I used to think that the 240SX convertible is the rarest type of 240SX out there, but according to this review, more than 10,000 were sold in the first three months since their introduction in May, 1992.

According to this DOT page, 27,033 240SXs were made in 1992, 21,471 in 1993, and only 1,167 in 1994. That adds up to 49,671 240SXs (all types) made in those years. I guess a large chunk of it, or over 10,000 at least, are convertibles. That could explain why I've seen more 240SX convertibles on the road than S14as.

That makes the S14a (1997-1998) the rarest 240SX, with only 5,833 produced.  :P

Just wanted to point that out to everyone who, like me, thought that the convertible is the rarest. ^_^;

I would like a 97-98, but they are too much $$.  I will keep the 300zx for that price.  The convertibles are ugly anyways.

Are those really that rare? I saw a black one today. I've only seen 3-4 95-96 s14's around here, south san jose area, lots of s13's.

From the beginning of this year i've only seen 2 97-98 S14s, a number of 95-96 S14s, and s13 are there on the road all the time. Not many convos though

I dono if i'm just looking for them now or what, but I see at LEAST 1 240sx every day (not includeing mine of course).  Most of them are fastbacks but I see plenty of coupes, s14s of all years and convertables.  Off them all I've seen the least of the 97-98s14's though, so that report doesn't supprise me.

I have actually been seeing a lot of 95/96 s14's this week and there is a school around the corner where someone drives a 97/98 white s14 base with a huge whale tale.  Her car is beat up.
