mrmephistopheles told me that all the 240sx convertibles began life as coupes. Nissan had another company in the US make them into convertibles. I lot of reinforcing is needed (IIRC). I dont think there is a convertible S13 in japan.

the car in that pic somehow looks used. seems like the other models/cars in the showroom are newer. I could be wrong

yea, thats an 89-90 S13 and also if you look in the background there is a modern pathfinder and a frontier pickup. looks nice. but more like a convertible with a rollbar

They have convertable s13's in Japan.  They're pretty rare though.  IIRC they were automatic Q's.

There were some Silvia convertibles in Japan, but it looks like the US is the big winner in this trend (so say the Aussies - look near the bottom):

(cool - I always wondered how to name you link)

Why are you guys talking bout converts. thats a targa top style.......I was thinking of doing that on my hatch. They have kits that you can do all you have to do is make sure you get a good cut, welding, and seals. I agree that would be one sweet ride w/ a silvia front end, kouki lights, and a hippo sleek d-style kit........my fantasy ride.
