S14 cluster lights mystery!!! Plz helps me 💔

So long story short, I installed s s15 steering wheel in my s14 n it was missing the air bag guts so my air bag light has been flashing
So today I said well let's remove the bulb. As soon I pull the cluster out toward me to get to it all my cluster lights went off
All the warning signs and the Gauges all
Work but the 3 bulbs that light the cluster itself will not come on. So I started playing with it for couple hours. Well back of the s14 zenki 96 cluster there's 3 white plugs and a black one
When I unplugged the black harness plug on back of the cluster I realized that the 3 bulbs come to life . I plug the black harness back in and the bulbs go off. It's driving me crazy n I can't figure it out.
Any help??

Hmm strange its like a short in a way, have u traced back along the harness to see if thiers any taers in it?

Yeah
Only thing I can find is that 2 tiny thin wires are ghettoly tapped into 2 wires on the dimmer switch
Havnt traced that to see where it goes yet it got dark on me
But could that be relevant?
