as for pricing...stopped in at a Houston dealer today to look at the frs... HOLY STICKER SHOCK, BATMAN!!! The showroom model was $33800.. fully loaded with go fast items like Navigation and fake carbon fiber.. a $400 rear spoiler was added for effect and $1800 for some shitty wheels and tires... I don't freakin think so.... who wants all this flash and no go... a stock wrx or mustang v6 will kick it's butt... even the genesis coupe has 74 more hp for less money... if they don't get the price down, only trust fund babies will be buying these....

There's a Civic SI (non-HFP, non-navi) a local Honda dealer marked at 33K because they put low-jack on, tinted the windows, added disgusting wheels, and 7K worth of "Dealer markup." It's been there well over 5 months.. Just because it's marked that high doesn't mean people actually buy it. I was looking at a red 6-speed FRS at a local dealer and could have walked out of there paying $24k before TT&L with the recent grad rebate. That's not a bad price for what it is.

With all that said I still find the comparison to be strangely ironic don't you?

Definitely, but that market (and the rest of Europe) is far more receptive to diesels and smaller cars. IMO, I think it's because they are almost force to with smaller roads and insanely high fuel prices.

This car ain't gonna grow on me until the STI version comes out with more power and 5x114.3 lug patterns. But at that point, MSRP will be about $30k BEFORE dealer markup probably. No thanks. Should have just done that to start off with.

Accelerated Performance FRS / BRZ turbo package runs a world record 1/4 mile time of 11.3 @ 127.4 MPH. The engine / transmission is stock other than the bolt on FRS / BRZ 400 package. Check out our website @ Accelerated Performance or give us a call @ 1-419-474-7170 for more info on the FRS / BRZ 300 or 400 turbo packages we have available.

Pretty close to stock...
S2000: Unknown exhaust Unknown coilovers. OEM Hardtop 255 width ADVAN Neova AD08 tires. BRZ: Berk exhaust custom alignment 215 width Star Specs. The S2000 was an AP2, but they also run 255 width tires stock on the CR model. Normal AP2's run 245 rears in stock form. But the BRZ's potency is very clear to see here, as much as I hate to admit it. |

Been saying it for a minute, the first person to get rid of those Prius tires and put some serious rubber and suspension under it is going to have a serious car.

^^^Yeah, I posted this vid a few pages back but the BRZ/FRS really does shine quite a bit more with some better rubber. With just the addition of some wide Star Specs on 17's, the car just may possibly beat a stock 2013 GC 2.0T around the right track or at least match it.
Now I want to see a comparison between a BRZ/FRS versus a 350Z on a roadcourse. |

Took this from the FT86 Forums and thought it was pretty interesting.
"An otherwise stock FR-S on performance summer tires will put up some pretty phenomenal handling numbers. Thought this might be useful to see (skidpad / slalom / 60-0): [1.00-1.04 g] 1.04 g / 71.3 mph / 102 ft -- 911 Carrera S (Pirelli P Zero P-spec) 1.03 g / 71.6 mph / 109 ft -- Elise (Yoko A048 LTS) 1.00 g / 70.3 mph / 107 ft -- FR-S (Yoko AD08) [0.95-0.99 g] 0.99 g / 72.3 mph / 102 ft -- Boxster Spyder (Bridgestone RE050a P-spec) 0.99 g / 70.7 mph / 112 ft -- Evo X GSR (Yoko A048) 0.98 g / 71.0 mph / 103 ft -- R8 (Pirelli P Zero A-spec) 0.98 g / 69.7 mph / 103 ft -- Corvette (Eagle F1 Supercar) 0.98 g / 69.1 mph / 109 ft -- Shelby GT500 (Eagle F1 Supercar G:2) 0.97 g / 71.3 mph / 105 ft -- Cayman R (Bridgestone RE050a P-Spec) 0.96 g / 74.0 mph / 98 ft -- GT-R (Bridgestone RE070R) 0.95 g / 73.3 mph / 100 ft -- E90 M3 Coupe (Michelin PS2) [0.90-0.94 g] 0.93 g / 70.4 mph / 105 ft -- 370z (Bridgestone RE050a) 0.91 g / 71.1 mph / 119 ft -- MS3 (Dunlop SP Sport 2050) 0.91 g / ???? mph / 109 ft -- E46 M3 Coupe (Yoko AD07) 0.91 g / 70.4 mph / 115 ft -- Nismo 370z (Yoko Advan Sport) 0.90 g / 70.2 mph / 112 ft -- STI (Dunlop SP Sport 600) 0.90 g / 69.7 mph / 108 ft -- 135i (Bridgestone RE050a) [0.85-0.89 g] 0.89 g / 69.6 mph / 112 ft -- GC 2.0t R-Spec (Bridgestone RE050a) 0.88 g / 69.3 mph / 131 ft -- NSX (Bridgestone RE730) 0.88 g / 68.5 mph / 114 ft -- GC 3.8 Track (Bridgestone RE050a) 0.87 g / 67.1 mph / 121 ft -- Civic Si (Michelin PE2) 0.87 g / 66.1 mph / 112 ft -- Mustang V6 PP (Pirelli P Zero) 0.86 g / 64.9 mph / 110 ft -- NC Miata (Bridgestone RE050a) 1) Only compares cars with performance summer tires (no R compounds or all-seasons). 2) Only uses numbers from Edmunds track tests to keep methodology and venue the same. 3) FR-S and competitors bolded. Anyway you look at that, the FR-S on performance summer tires is clearly a class or two above its peers. Its competition really is more expensive sports cars and some exotics when it comes to handling (on street summer tires). " |
