my s14 steering rack is bad and rebuilding it is not an option ,a new rack and pinion is too expencive so i wanted to know if its posible to use another car rack to hit the local pull a part and get one to replace it or rebuild if need it.

Not true. The housings is a different which will require the bushings that will go with the rack.

$180 shipped for a remanufactured rack is too much? Time=money... All the time you will spend searching for a used rack you could have been working to buy a new one.
