It's cool so long as you actually ride a bike, snow board, etc.
(I.E. use it, not just for "show" purposes)

how about unicycle? lol yes i actually do ride one haha.

i dont have my rack mounted through any trim peices, its hooked securely on the lip of metal above the window. i love how it looks and its super functional since i ride whatever, bike, uni, and am also making a mount for my long board at the moment. my car my choicelol

a show rack goes perfect for my show bike

it's the only thing i had to keep from my old integra. i can't live without my bike. commuting to work and to-and-from class would be a pain.

lol, roof racks function is not a fad, yea the kids whom just throw shit up on them to look cool, will pull them right back off in due time, but there will be plenty of 240's running around with them for an extended time. I love having that shit on my roof, double trunk status what what lol

yea, there are the guys who will slap on a fairing and some cross bars because it looks cool, but getting a bike rack for looks is retarded. It's a "modification" that actually hinders performance. (ie gas mileage) Which is something i'm more than willing to sacrifice to

a. not mes up my trunk with a trunk mount rack
b. save time and effort of moving rear seats

what's next? people using a bike on the track for downforce?

lol! i need to finish my long board brackets for mine!

and hell yea on the Gas mileage. im in the experimental stage where im trying to factor how bad it is. while i left my bike/uni up on the entire tank, i also got some new goodies which chnaged my driving habits. either way i got about 60-80 miles less to the tank so we will see lol.

are we the only 2 fourteens on here with them at the moment?

the red one from MD on 7 series wheels sold his thule setup to a guy in cali, then last i checked the setup was forsale again. There is a red cookie with a picture of his bmx atop that gets whored out alot too.... but yea, i think there are less than 5.

on my old integra i didn't have a fairing for about1-2 weeks because it was on backorder locally, but the noise that those cross bars create is ridiculous. talk about turbulent air. even with the fairing i can see why aerodynamics of the car suffers. during the summers when i'm commuting strictly highway i will remove my rack, but during school season, it's on pretty much 24/7

i live off campus from my university so im skrewed either way haha. before i got my ac working i used to reach my hand out of my sunroof to channel air into my face, and once i put the rack up i realized just how much air it redirections. there is no air traveling anywhere near the roof of my car.

but its the downside of doing what you want. just like fitting 10+ inch rims in stock fenders and running 3+ degress of camber.

thats neat that there are only like 4-5 guys running around known though

doesnt anyone have pics of a foot kit for a THULE roof rack installed on a s13 or know what type of foot kit i should use? i just recntly bought a THULE roof rack for $20 from a friend and it was mounted on BMW to the rain gutters on the windows. from what i know the s13 has a different mounting solution.

those are two entirely difference setups. if you have feet for rain gutters i dont think they are even interchangeable with ones used for clamping door sils.

i know they are totaly different. i would basically replace the whole foot setup with ones that would work for a s13. i was thinking of using the xt400 aero foot pack. the load bars are square and the xt400 aero foot pack acomidates square load bars. but i would like to see what other have used when it come to thule.

to my knowledge the only person to use a thule setup is the red zenki from MD who then sold his setup to a guy in cali

Hey Nathan, nice car man. Ive actually seen your car around on other forums (hondatech). I've been searching online for the s14 Yakima roof rack setup for a while and took a liking to yours. Could you lay out a bill of material for your current setup? I know you have the Q38 clips but what about the stretch kit? I want to have my bike and board on but disperse as much of the weight as evenly as possible so there is no damage to the roof.

Thanks man.

Btw, you cambodian by any chance?

Chinese

38-44" fairing
4x Q towers
4x Q11 clips (from integra sedan 94-01, my previous car)
2x 48" crossbars
2 x steel head yakima bike mounts
1 x powder hound snowboard rack
1 x gen II stretch kit + rear covers (i think the current version is 3, but that is for the newer q towers)

so for S14's I'm seeing the ppl are using both Q38 and Q11 clips. Does anyone have any close up pictures of where the q clips hook onto the car? And what measurements are all you S14 guys using to setup the rack?
