And since it's an anime thread, I'm pretty sure he/she wants anime. You could search or create a movie thread if necessary. And to get back on topic, I'm watching the first episode of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It looks really promising!

Man I hated that show. It has a cool theme but it's to damned corny.
For the best fight scenes I would have to go with Cowboy Bebop.

My favorite animes: Heroic Age Macross Frontier Eureka 7 Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann My least Favorite animes: Stuff that is manga derived, aka Dragon Ball Z Naruto Bleach etc... Mainly because the manga moves so slowly that they have to artificially slow the anime down somehow to compensate...so what do they do? How bout 15 minute stair downs between two characters before a fight? Or 5 minute recaps of the previous episode? Or Filler episodes that are poorly written and animated? I think there is about 10 minutes of content in a 30 minute show with manga derived animes. Sure, as a manga, Bleach, Naruto, DBZ, etc are amazing....but as Animes...they suck balls. |

You can't say that about all manga derived anime. Take FLCL for instance. The only thing lost is the art style. It has all the intensity and strangeness intact.
The original Dragon Ball was good too.

classic giant robot story there macross frontier is mecha porn, political drama, and high school drama mainly tho its mecha porn nobody does fightes like shoji kawamori and bandai basically said fuck it here's a monster budget, animate the fuck out of it |

id typically agree with that but macross 7 has sullied kawamori's reputation in my mind. macross frontier kicks ridiculous amounts of ass however, so i guess he's redeeming himself. episode 7 was incredible. this is definitely the best macross since the original and plus. i think it might even be better than plus. its what 7 should have been. next ep looks like its gonna tie in to zero... should be interesting what they have to say about it.
gurren lagann was over the top ridiculosity. 3rd arc was a bit weak but i loved the plot advance they did mid way through; very nice ending as well. besides macross frontier i'm fairly hooked on code geass r2. and killing time with slightly pornographic comedies kanokon and to-love-ru. |

Everything I have watched has probably already been mentioned in this thread.
Recently watched "Welcome to the NHK" and I got to say it is one of my favorite animes I have ever watched. The first part is okay but the middle and end episodes are great, so give it some time. |

Wow, what a cool thread.
It really has been quite a while since I watched anything anime related. But this sure is bringing back a lot of memories of cool shows! I think it is definitely time I get back into it! Always fun to watch and escape reality for a bit. A lot of cool recommendations in here for sure. For some reason I really enjoy anime from the 80s and early 90s before computers played a huge part in the animation and overall feel. The details and design seem so much better and technical looking in the older animes. Like AKIRA and GHOST IN THE SHELL for example. Been wanting to check out BARI BARI DENSETSU for a while but cannot seem to find any downloads nor one that is subtitled. Awesome animation and it is from the creator of Initial D, Shuichi Shigeno. It deals with motorcycle racing. From 1986.

Macross Frontier got me hooked. I watched the first 10 episodes this weekend on Veoh. Gotta watch the rest on Youtube...unless there's a better place someone can recommend me?
Did anyone see the UH-60 Blackhawk in ep. 9 or 10? And I had this stuck in my head all day [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wieStI7kN-I[/ame] |

I don't really watch any anime outside of adultswim.
Cowboy BeBop, Eureka 7, Ghost in the Shell, are prob my top3. Death note and bleach are good too. Oh and does anyone know if the latest Death Note episode on Adult Swim(Saturday) was the last one of the series?

Ive only seen initial D and wangan midnight. Initial d was sweet for the first 2 stages, but the second two lacked storyline. It was just battle after battle. It got boring.
Wangan midnight was sweet. Has anyone else seen it? |

-cowboy bebop was awesome, music, animation, and storyline were great
-mononoke is a classic that needs to be watched and is even still good by today's standards -ninja scroll is the standard by people's "introduction into anime" but now that i'm of age. . . it's just soft porn and there are a lot better animes out there -initial d . . . was good maybe for like the first 5 minutes . . . into the first episode . . . and then it got boring really fast with badly repeated computer animated racing scenes, etc.
