Yeah I've noticed a slowdown in bandwith, and in posts as well.

yeah, it can be really slow at times, but you have to figure the database this thing is lugging around... I'm not sure if west used the mySQL database or the proprietary one, but one thing is for certain, there will only be more and more threads.
Sure it's slow, but zilvia is a great resource, never look a gift 240 in the mouth <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> hehee |

The site is all of a sudden faster now <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'>
Its been slow as all hell all day. I highly doubt west has bandwidth problems though. |

Bandwidth isnt really a problem, its more so Disk I/O and Processor availiblity (somewhat). But the biggest problem is once our OS runs for about a week staight it needs a reboot because it just decides to get slow for no reason and it speeds back up after a reboot. We run Exchange (Resource hog) on the same box as well as a few other small sized sites (nothing that compares to Zilvia). With so many users active on the server MySQL is a real Disk hog as well. I priced out a 2nd Processor for our server and since you would have to match the speed at the first one then id need a PIII 600 w/ i think 256L2 Cache IIRC. Were slowly paying of the costs of getting the biz paid off and only have a little more, were hoping to make a little off these stickers that are being sent to me today. But once we have everything paid off and start making profit we will start to price out a new server dedicated just for Zilvia.net. Of course this will happen alot faster the more advertisers we get.

I know this thread is old but I really didn't feel like making a new one
Some suggestions to save some bandwith off the top of my head:

Well, it isn't always about how active the page is with smileys. Seeing as how popular this website is, the server can be at a 'slow' because of all activity. But so far I have not had one problem with the website/forum. The speed has been extremely fast, as always.

You guys are never happy. Check your connection's before you blame ours. Our server owns you, and so does our connection.
Did I mention I still have 1500$ debt from the new server I got everyone. Still you bitch... |
