1JZGTE VVTI swap into a 1991 Nissan s13 hatch.
Hello fellow zilvia users! Quick background: I am 17 years old and have been researching the s13 chassis and 1JZGTE VVTI platforms for 2 years in an attempt to build a tribute car to honor and promote the legacy of a dear friend who passed away due to suicide. He would always tell me about how when he was 16 we would build a '91 s13 and 1J VVTI with a CD009 swap. Well, he sadly suffered from extreme depresssion and took his life October 17 , 2015. In an attempt to fulfill this dream of his I am going to be attempting this swap but I need to know what I will need for it to run (gaskets, serpentine belt, intercooler, radiator, driveshaft, and clutch/flywheel for CD009 etc.) I do not exactly have a large amount of money for this so I'd like to get suggestions on what parts are cheap but still maintain good quality. Thank you!!

You'll need to up your budget a few thousand dollars. I'm planning mine currently. Look into the swap parts provided by gktech, maverick, wiring specialties, and for non critical items (i.e. Exhaust, intercooler) cxracing to save a few bucks. Essentially it is a very simple swap as long as you spend money on quality parts. I promise you all of the information is more than out there for this swap. No one here will spoon feed you, get a pencil and paper and start planning.

Good thread to read through. Plan on saving a couple more thousand though. You could get it done thoroughly for roughly $7-8k |

5k will get it mounted and that's just about it unfortunately.
Here's a small breakdown of where I'm at currently 1700-auto vvti swap (make sure it's a non emobilized ecu) 2k for a tripod r box with a ORC 409 push/pull conversion 700ish for xcessive motor/trans/DS/ac delete (you can just gut the compressor and save $) and trans mount 900$ on a WS p&p harness ~~maintenance~~ 300-Factory Toyota gasket set (does not include vvti seal kit) 150- 2jz water pump 125-Driftmotion pulleys 70-Gates racing belt 300-Future fab outlet I'm still short 300-1000$ depending on how fancy I want to do piping and exhaust Not including shit I already had rad/fans/PS line/aftermark mounts/IC etc etc Last edited by Gar9854; 07-05-2017 at 02:45 PM.. I'm attempting this swap on my s14 so same process. I purchased complete engine set 1jz(vvti) with a r154 transmission for 4000. I saw it a better route then cd009 because well its either i pay more for r154 or less for cd009 plus adapter kit and comes out the same at end.
Ive made a quote on around how much more I will need for all the parts to get it running and I still need a good 3000 give or take to get all the remaining parts to get it running. A good total of 6-7k with all labor done by myself. |

CD is actually cheaper.
1jz with auto is like 1500 shipped. 2500 for Collins kit That includes driveshaft, clutch flywheel etc. CD I played 500 shipped. 4500 for all that? Or 4k with nothing else.
