Ive got a break question

Sorry if this is not the place to post this.
I do not know much about brakes and what makes them all different. I am wanting to get some Brembos for an s14 build but dont feel like spending 6k+ for a set. Now. there is a guy on craigslist selling the set from an evo VII for 1300. Could i just use those? or would it be too different? What would i have to do to be able to use those if i even can?

Breaks? Never heard of them...

In all seriousness. Ever thought of looking into doing a Brembo SRT8 conversion? Brackets are only like $250, 14 inch rotors... They're really cool.

First off... I think you're referring to 'Brakes'. Secondly, it's rare to see an S-Chassis outgrow Z32 brakes... Thirdly, why use some tired JDM only setup when CTS-V brake swaps exist for pretty cheap? http://www.ctsvbrakeswap.com/nissan/...aliper-bracket

Why do you need big brakes? Just for looks? What are you doing with the car?

Your brakes are only as effective as the tires connected to them.

Right.

Some good pads will get you through crown point just fine.

*sigh* its Touge... But yeah if you already have an s14 with 5 lug you'd have to be an idiot to go with anything other than z32 brakes they'll be plenty for your application. I mean the stock brakes work just fine so long as you got traction, not too insane of power set up, and good pads (I'm talking about actually good pads like hawk or stoptech or project mu not just the high end wagners or whatever shit they try and sell you at O'reallys).

Your spelling was fine. What you did wrong was use a homonym.

Keep it simple, dude. Brakes are the last thing you want to over-complicate. You think guys in Japan in daily driven street drifters are doing exotic Evo brembo swaps? Not saying it can't be done, but in most cases, it's completely unneccessary. But if you're serious about touge, I'd love to see your wheel/tire setup.

^^^This. And LOL @ O'Reallys! But go ahead & pull the trigger on that setup you're eyeing. I'm sure anything is possible with enough effort, resources and $$$.

Hahahah that's great statement. It's all in the skill of braking. Don't forget that you also have a transmission and an engine to help you stop, not just go.

With a combo of at the limit braking, engine/clutch braking, downshifting, and ebrake assistance, a stock s13 can stop pretty fucking quickly. Just takes some skill, and or urgency (trying not to crash your shit)

They're smaller than Z32 calipers though...

I guess they're good for the 4 lug guys...

Exactly, just get the rotors re-drilled for 4x114.3 and you're in business.
