VG30ET piston compatibility and rebuild questions

I'm getting parts together to rebuild my '87 300zx turbo. I've decided to up my compression and was originally just going to swap in NA pistons. But I will be upgrading the turbo, and increasing boost, looking for between 400-500 rwhp. So I'm going to put forged pistons in. This way I don't have to worry about them and have room to grow later if I decide I want to. I can't seem to find forged for the VG30ET. I've found an abundance of VG30DETT. What I've gathered is these will fit but due to cylinder head differences compression will be lower. Is this correct? Can I swap the z32 heads over to correct this? If not, how much is the difference? I'm lookin for around 9.5:1 cr.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The Z32 Pistons work, but due to the difference in cylinder head design your compression ratio will be lower. if you are looking to achieve 9.5:1 CR you would basically have to get custom pistons made.

the only pistons available for Z32 off the shelf is

8.5:1
9:1
10:1 (N/A)
11:1 (n/A)

I would suggest the 9:1 TT pistons to leave you with a nice CR for high boost, otherwise I would highly recommend talking to the guys at CP or Wiseco for a custom set.

Thanks for your response. I found on one forum that I'll lose about a full point in cr using z32. IE: 9:1 z32= 8:1z31. I'm at 7.8:1 now. Looking to increase for quick off boost response and quick spool, not necessarily high peak hp.

EPR Performance has been dealing with building VGs for some time. I know a few SOHC that have ordered pistons through him with good luck.
