S14 pillar pod in S13
Hey all,
I searched and found a custom pillar for tweeters thread, and a 20-pager with different gauge setups- could not find anything that directly addressed my question(s). I have a complete manual seatbelt setup in my 92 hatch; to include all the interior panels. I got an Autometer dual gauge A-pillar pod, but it doesn't fit b/c it was made for the much bulkier USDM S13 w/auto seatbelts... The Canadian non-auto seatbelt A-pillar panel is much flatter, more like the S14 (I presume). I was not able to find a Canadian company that makes them online... and PDM Racing (Canadians) told me that the Autometer pod will fit with "heat and trimming" Will an S14 pillar pod do the trick? Unlike the triple, the dual is not the entire panel; just a section of it. If not, is there a good read on how to heat/trim a gauge pod without fucking the pillar panel up? Thanks in advance. Mike

Thanks Ray, that's totally cool of you... but I only need a dual and they are pretty cheap. Will prolly go ahead & buy one and see what happens. Was hoping someone on here had either tried an S14 pod successfully, or found a good solution to the same problem.
My gauges are 52mm Defis btw.

Well, ordered S14 pod... it came in the mail today- hoped for the best... No dice. WAY worse of a fit than the USDM S13 pod. Heat and trimming it is=)

So I figured I'd update this. Ended up adapting the USDM S13 pod to the Canadian Spec pillar. Used heat gun & angle grinder. Pretty happy with the turnout.

Not bad... I'm personally not a huge fan of A-pillar pods, but we have very limited options for our cars. I run the ATI steering column pod on my S14 and have my 3rd gauge where the cigarette lighter use to be.

I'm not either... at least not USA pods. The ones for S-chassis in Japan are much longer so fitment looks much less choppy. I only run 2 gauges (boost, oil press)... and in keeping with a relatively factory interior look & function, it seems the best of limited options=)
