Tein HE & Flex

Ok I've been reading past forum posts regarding both coilovers with varied replies on each. Here is what i want to know from those of you that have had experiance with either. Just exactly how damn rough are the HE's for daily driving? The type of setup I am looking for is daily driver/ocassional drift/drag. I will also eventualy be upgrading to Z breaks and 8" wheel all around. Any fitment issues/suggestions when purchasing rims? I also know that the HE's have a stiffer rate at 8/6 and the FLEX have a 5/4 which would obviously be softer for street. Based on what I know, I want to know your opinions on each coilover for what I want to do.

Thank you

I daily drive on he's, they are not bad but areas with rough roads can suck.

I thought my HEs were a bit rough. But my dad was going to drive my car the other day, so I turned them down a couple clicks all around, and I was shocked. They ride like a normal car. Turn 'em back up, and they come right back to being perfect for track or touge or whatever.

Now, the one advantage I'd see for the flexes is that they are EDFC compatible. So you don't have to pop the hood and go crawling around in the backseat. But it's really a minor inconvienience to change settings around.

how soft did you set them? i set them to the softest RECOMMENDED setting and it was still pretty bumpy on SF, bay area streets ...

they were at, like, level 8. And they were about as smooth as my dad's 328i.

hey SR_texan...just wondering something...heh

How much money do you have? First, you need a 240 (which you don't have). Then you have plans for an SR (or KA-T), coilovers, brake upgrades... etc etc etc. Every time I see you post, you post another question about the quality of *INSERT ITEM NAME HERE*. Just thought you'd like to know that a 240 will cost you at least 2000, SR is another 2000 (plus install if you don't know how to), coilovers are at least 1200 (for the ones you want). Other misc. shit...blah blah blah. sorry, don't mean to be an asshole or anything

Never thought I'd say this but the search button would help.

i roll on HE's daily. at the softest setting they are too soft for me and feels barely firmer than stock. i set them at F:8 and R:8 for daily driving. i like to have a little fun on the the way to school/work/whatever. on the firmest dampening their a little bouncy but super easy to get that ass end out.

What do you guys mean when you say numbers like 8? Eight from the softest (full counter-clockwise) or eight from the hardest (full clockwise)?
I have mine set at 6 from the hardest in the front and 5 from the hardest in the rear for the daily grind. Lub it.

They seem harsh at 1st. Then after about 1-2 months I started to wonder if they were broken. They feel so soft now. I'm thinking about going up to 10/8.

pussies! hahaha... had my HE's for years, never went pass 8 towards soft. Looking at going 9/7, or 10/8.

Unless you're a poser and want to say "I have Teins" then whatever. hehe.

There's no getting around anything with you guys.

There's 20 steps... of course, you're not supposed to use the first 4, but not everybody knows that.

HE's for daily driving in NJ sucks balls. Car takes too much of a beating. Flex is the way to go...if you like less roll, get anti-sways.
