I'm a little curious why you didn't try to swap it yourself. I'm no master mechanic but I've helped do a LS swap with the sikky kit and it really made it pretty straight forward.
Install the mounts to the motor and have the X member in and it litterally drops right into the stock 240 motor mount location. It wasn't bad at all. It helps if you have the chain sling, but it really was pretty straight forward. I only ask because 15k is a lot money and it could of been a really good experience. And saved you 10k pretty easily. If you got money to burn and don't care, well then more power to you. I sometimes would rather pay then wrench on my car too. |

Save 10k? I don't think so. That LS1 probably costs nearly 5k by itself. I'd say OP would save 5k at the most doing the work himself. Maybe not even that.

Lol. You can't do a LS swap for less than 10 grand and it actually be worth a damn.
This is a 5.7 not a 5.3. Anyway that was a nice SOHC. Looks like a great starting point. |

So I think you could do it pretty conservatively with 7k. 10k is a gross over estimation. There really no reason it should be 10k and I think if you doing a stock LS1 swap for 10k you got robbed. So if he spent 15 for the motor and the shop to swap it he could of swapped himself for almost half the cost. He hasn't said how much the motor set was. Hey OP how much was your motor set with mount kit, motor, trans, and harness? |

A working t56 is 1400-1800 pretty much anywhere in the country. 10k is pretty much the minimum to get a running complete swap that uses quality parts. Of course you can go the cxracing option or build your own mounts and headers to save a few bucks but still not thousands. Do your homework and understand what is involved in the swap and the true costs involved. Those of us who have actual running swap have easily averaged 10k to complete DIY with no paid shop labor. And stock axles are perfectly fine on an ls swap. Jesus people. |

Well, I'm speaking from experience as I have actually done the swap, albeit it is limited. I picked up a Perfect running condition LS1 that was super clean for 1500 given it was just the engine seeing as we already had the transmission. And the swap was quality. Siiky kit mounts and X-member, WS harness. LS6 intake, quality clutch. Custom headers. So with that engine and your estimate on 1800 for the t56 were right at 3,300 sooo..... Granted we bought the motor second hand from a guy off C-list. So I'm sure a shop motor or vendor motor would cost a good deal more. Now as I didn't pay for the shit I didn't know the exact dollar amount of everything, but it was a good deal south of 10k. But, if you wanna measure dicks and call me stupid than by all means keep the circle jerk jerkin. I was just curious why he wouldn't do it himself and save a chunk of change, some people have money to burn and that's cool. |

$1500 for a working LS1 with no problems and without astronomical mileage is highway robbery. New, they say don't even waste your time with a crate LS1 any more because at that point you're better off spending a little more cash on the LS3. The used LS1's arent much better and regularly run at least 3k for a decent one, and usually more. If you encounter a deal like that again, please let me know sir.

3300 for an LS1 with transmission 500 HP tuners 100 for fuel pump 300 for fuel lines and corvette pressure regulator\filter 450 for decent radiator and fans 500 for LS6 clutch kit 250 for Sikky Master Cylinder Conversion Kit 140 for slave cylinder 2800 for sikky swap kit 650 for cheapest sikky headers 8990 total Thats without any extra shit, assuming nothing goes wrong, all the accessories off the motor work, you don't want AC, and you wire your own harness. You could make your own mounts, use a GTO oil pan\modify your crossmember (iirc), make your own headers, and you'll save a couple thousand. |

It's only $125 to have your ECM sent out for tuning (although I personally went with HP Tuners). You can cut some cost out of fuel lines and a radiator if you go with oem style components instead of bling bling because racecar components. I spent $4500 on a 2000 M6 Z28. After I part out / sell the shell my motorset will only have cost me $2k. It's entirely possible to swap the engine yourself for less than $10k out the door and not have it be a big piece of shit. Just don't expect to be featured in any magazines. And to the guy above, I'm pretty sure 450rwhp + stickies = broken stock axles. I'd love to be wrong, but I have some spares ready to go just in case. |

So did you actually take disassembled the block and look at the internal? Any paperwork that it is freshly build? Clean Pistons and valves?
My swap is going to be close to 10k doing it myself and some help. The thing that cost the most is the engine 1800 rebuilt but have stock Pistons and rods, 243 heads with dual valve springs and retainers ported. T56 which is 1500 rebuilt but has no paperwork on it. Mounts, header ect $1200 and I spent extra on fast intake and nw tb since the engine doesn't come with it. And of course harness is 799 ws plus shipping.

I hope he did upgrade the pushrods and valve springs for that cam. Did he check the PTV after cam install?
Since you're local, you need to let me see that bad boy!
