ka24e rattling noise! need help please.
i recently bought a 89 s13 with 192,296 miles on it and has a rattling noise that gets louder when i accelerate. from what i have seen and heard is that the timing guides go bad because they are made of plastic. if anyone has had this noise could you please help because i dont want to drive it till i know what the noise can be

ahhahah mine did the same timing chain u can replace it but it wont be too long before it starts again its a common problem.if not and its a ticking try checking your lifters.

Not sure if the s13 KAs came with the upper chain guide but all you'd have to do is pull off the valve cover and look. If you've got that b!tch on, take it off asap. It will break and get pulled throughout both timing chain spaces, breaking things on its way down (speaking from experience).
First order of business would be checking for that guide and if any obvious flaws can be seen with vc off.

from my understanding i think i only have 1 guide that supports the chain. but i also heard that their is a replacement kit that fixed the problem. if not im just gonna do a DE swap.

Dam bro the same happen to mine but I was on the freeway. One day it got Lauder and lost power. I down shifted(not my best idea) turns out It ate the head gasket and chunks of my head. I don't know what caused it.
