Alternator Belt Tensioner Bolt
So I inadvertently snapped one of the Alternator Tensioner Bolts...the front one with a hole in the side for the side bolt to thread into...and I was wondering where I would find something like that. Since it is on the SR motor, and none of the other cars/trucks I have ever owned have ever had anything like that (all domestics) I was wondering if it is a part that is specific to the SR, or if another engine (KA?) would have the same bolt. Any ideas? Thanks.

I tried the hardware stores...they all just kind of look at you and laugh. They dont sell any bolts with a hole so you can thread another bolt into it (making the 2 bolts look like an L when connected...if anyone is having problems picturing it).

Um. If it's the long one it doesn't have a hole for the lock bolt to thread into. The bracket has the hole and when you tighten it, it holds the bolt in place keeping it from turning. If it had a hole in the bolt for another bolt to go into then there wouldn't be any adjustment because you'd have to thread the lock bolt into that hole every time.

go to your local nissan dealership. walk back to the parts dept and show them the part. i broke the one on my sr and the mech at the dealership gave me a few bolts that were close. the one that worked i believe came off of a maxima. there are parts off of other nissans that will work. hope that helps..............
