sounds fun, but ill be at Indy for the F1 race... i worked at a track event this weekend, i ran tech and paddock. fun stuff, plus, i get a free event for every time i work! :) it was down at Roebling Road in Savahna, it was a fun track. each group got about 90 minutes of track time a day. im not sure of the exact price though, i think it was around $200 a day though, maybe less. i would have drivin in the event but i spun a rod bearing at the last autoox (went out a quart low, damn, that was dumb!! :() and im working on putting a new motor in the car now. oh and btw, if you'd like to check out the event i worked for, its Seat Time, www.SeatTime.com

no, not the same meet.. the one Russ is going to is an open track day.. not really organized with classrooms, and instructors like this one will be.

F both ya. ;) Road Atlanta's on my list with Mid-O, Laguna, the Glen, and a rental car run on the Nurburgring.

I really just had to reply so that I could register my shock that people would want to drift there. Those walls are notoriously hungry for cars! Way too close for drifting, imho.

i have a question. i need to register with nasa to enter the event. which class do i fall into? hpde1 or hpde2? i got signed off at vir at the mazda drivers event, so does that mean i'm eligible for hpde2?

I'm in hpde 1. If you count the length of your wait for a track day in pay days, it seems like its gona be here in no time! :)

would it be a bad idea to have old azenis in the rear and fresh kuhmo mx in the front? I may not be able to put a full new set on, but I have to do 2.

Ukann - Hpde 1 is definately were you should be.

Dave - Put them on before the event, and drive around, and see how they feel on the front. More than likely you'll be fine, but it would be a good idea to test them out before you got on track and see how they act.

fyi - I'm bringing a 12x12 easy up, so we will have a little shade.

I can't wait to become an instructor. It'll be a bit. gotta get some more events under the belt, and get through the instructor training courses. I'm hoping in the next 1-2 years. :)

hahaha I know right. thats whats gonna kill me. the wait untill I get enough experience to get out of HPDE 1 and signed off. I ran the novice group at RA that time and we couldnt pass at all. really sucked sometimes. by the third session I was getting bored.. but I ended up in a group of C5s... that was fun :)

steeles, you should come. no excuses there, hehe. yea the only thing about the novice groups is that you run with some pretty slow ppl. should've seen some of the ppl at vir... just but still... can't complain. track time is track time :)

Wow, I don't even know if I'd go if there weren't passing zones. RA has atleast 2 straights that even 16yr old noobs could safely pass on. Hopefully we'll get to pass on all 3 straights in HPDE 1.

yea, the drive to RA is far, but i think this is my best chance of going there with other 240 ppl. more fun that way. the drive there won't be a problem, it's the drive home i'm worried about... but oh well... did the same thing at the convention last summer, haha.
