These are going for: $35 picked up or $40 Shipped (California customers please add 9.25% to shipped price for shipping cost.)

Now in stock is the S13 / S14 Steering Angle Adapter.

Comes with: (1) Steering Angle Adapter & (1) 7mm spacer (Optional for bit more angle)

Below is the specifications when used with the spacer:

GODSPEED steering angle adaptor will allow your steering angle from 38 degree (oem) to 52 degree (gsp adaptor). That is a total of 14 degree gain over stock.

Simply install the adapter on the passenger side of the steering rack and re-center the rack after install. That's it! (See pictures below for example)

OEM vs. Godspeed Project

Leading wheel: OEM is 38 degrees vs. Godspeed is 52 degrees

Trailing wheel: OEM is 30 degrees vs. Godspeed is 39 degrees

Turning circle (curb-to-curb): OEM is 30 feet vs. Godspeed is 24 feet

Lock-to-Lock: OEM is 3 turns vs. Godspeed is 2.8 turns

how does the lock to lock decrease when lengthening the steering rack? i think you have a typo there..

but this is pretty cool, do you have to remove the bump stops on the control arms?

TheRealSy90
11-15-2011, 11:35 AM
It decreases lock to lock because you basically hit the bump stops faster when you increase the steering angle this way.

If you remove the bump stops i'm sure you would just get that much more steering angle.

.. really now...

the gear ratio never changes in the steering rack, so if the lock to lock is defined ONLY by the bump stops on the control arms, then it wouldn't matter if you put a 15" spacer on the rack, the rack cant push beyond the bump stops.

my main question was do the bumpstops have to be removed, and i think the answer is yes.

No, the steering stops do not HAVE to be removed. Its not necessary, you can grind down them down to get even more of an angle.

But these adapters can be installed without having to grind down the steering stops.

Well if you lengthen the rack, putting the ends further out, thus less distance they have to travel before hitting the bumpstops, less "turns to lock"?

im curious. if you bought one for each side would it make both wheels have 52 degrees of steering angle? why do you only get one? and wouldnt only having one mess up your tire wear when turning?

no, you would actually have more than 52 degrees of angle (66 to be exact). but you would overcenter, or hit something before you could use all the angle it would give you. Would also need inner and outer rod/ rod ends.
You only get 1 because you Re-Center the rack after you install it, and you have to get you Toe angle re-aligned.

well i have tien inner and outer rods and stock lca. so if i got 2 of these wouldnt it hit the bump stops but give me max angle for both wheels? i just dont really understand how it can be god to have more angle on your leading tire than your trailing tire. seems to me that it would cause alot of wear on the trailing tire as well as mess with your drifting fluidity. so if i got adapters for both sides would it allow me more angle for both sides keeping them the same?

You will get the same steering angle from both sides with 1 if you re-center you rack properly. if you install 2, you get 28 degree of steering angle capability, and wont have to re-center your rack, but you will be over centering the wheels without other mods.

Do some research in the roll center thread. A-lot of your questions will be answered there.

i attempted to read and understand the whole suspension thread that was about setting up a car for drifting and couldnt understand any of it.. i tried reading the threads they sent you to to help understand it and it got all mumble together and got confusing to me.. ill try to look it up again..

Haha, well you might want to start small, and work your way up :)
Just order 1 adaptor, recenter your rack, and enjoy the extra angle. If you need more, you will have to get some Steering Knuckles, and notch or buy some new FLCA (front Lower Control Arms) so your tie rod ends dont hit.
I think God Speed has everything you need for suspension.

poneyrunner
11-25-2011, 10:39 PM
haha.. ok thanks... do you think you could simplify the roll center stuff? i think i understand the concept behind it. its a ratio based between your center of gravity and where you knuckles are? and having your roll center at the same level or a bit higher you get less body roll and more steering angle? am i right about this?

Am I missing something here?

I just installed these today and re-centered my steering rack and adjusted my tie rods all the way but I still have toe in. I even adjusted the drivers side to have toe out all the way and just re-center it that way but I still had toe in =\

I also tried just installing these without the gold spacers but it still the same.

TheRealSy90

Did you put one on each side of the rack? Without running longer control arms and modified knuckles you can only run one on the passenger side.

I'm only running one on the passenger side. I messed with it all day yesterday and today and still haven't figured out why it gives me so much toe in on the passenger side with maxed out tie rods.

TheRealSy90

Hmm, I'm running one on the passenger side without the washer, and one powered by max washer on the drivers side. My tie rods are as short as possible and the toe is straight.

It's because you didn't center your rack after installing the spacers. That's why it gives you toe in only on one side

To center your rack:
1. Turn your steering wheel lock to lock and measure turns (e.g 3)
2. Divide by 2 and turn the steering wheel that amount of turns (e.g 1.5)
3. Align the wheels now so that they point straight
4(optional). If your steering wheel does not point straight then unbolt and reinstall it facing straight

You are done!!

Ummmm i have tein inner rods and outter ends, i tried the adapter but i had toe in and i maxed the rods in and i still had toe in, are the tein combo too long to use with the adapter?

TheRealSy90
08-15-2012, 07:46 PM
I believe tein tie rods are longer than oem so that is why it's still toe'd in.

Fatboy Garage
08-16-2012, 11:07 AM
If you are using for instance s14 tie rods on a 13 then it might be too long. Let me know what your set up consist of ! :)

TheRealSy90
08-16-2012, 02:12 PM
I'm guessing since the tein tie rods are designed with a built in tie rod spacer, it would essentially be like running a rack spacer on both sides on stock tie rods, which in combination with the Steering Angle Adapter the tie rods will be too long. I'm running one 7mm tie rod spacer on the drivers side, Steering Angle Adapter on the passenger side, stock tie rods adjusted full short, straight toe.

Just to make sure, the adapter and spacer go on the same side?
And is that Left side or right side.
Thought i would clarify since Passenger side could vary from U.S. to JDM.
Im currently having problems with mine.
I put spacer on left and adpater onright. But steering keeps pulling left after alignment and wheel rotation.

NO, adaptor goes on passenger side, spacer goes on driver side. But 9 out of 10 if you run the spacer with the adaptor you will run out of threads on the tie rods to make your toe alignment straight (atleast i did). Your still toe in on one of the sides, recheck you alignment.. or you can remove the spacer from the driver side, realign and go from there.

artica
11-07-2012, 02:46 PM
Here's the exact situation.
I put 7mm spacer on left driverside and 12mm adapter on right passenger.
Recentered the rack and aligned the car. Also checked tire pressure.
Car drives straight until i let go of the wheel.
As soon as i let go, the wheel drops 1/4 to the left and pulls left.
Also when i pull into a parking spot with the wheel straight, as soon as i let go, the wheel drops
left 1/4 turn.
Where in the process might I be screwing it up?

P.S. replaced steering rack and it still pulls left

After re checking underneath the car and re examining the wheel width. It appears that my driver side is sticking out further due to an out of wack crossmember. Im going to see if i can readjust it and remeasure my adjustable flca's.
Maybe the driver side having more wheel width might cause a pull to that side.
Any input?

Hi,

Its correct to install the adaptor in passenger side with the included gold spacer and in the driver side install a gold 7mm spacer? Its ok? Thanks!
yes. you may run into some issues with Toe corrections. I ran out of threads on my stock S13 tie rods. so i ran the big spacer without the small 7mm.

I tried to remove the spacer from the adaptor and same result. If i install aftermarket track rods and tie rods the problem continues? Thanks

EvoVIII808
01-11-2013, 07:53 PM
Had no problems with my stock s13 rods. I just had to take off the 7mm spacer. Im not sure it will work correctly with longer rods, unless you have more threads for adjustment. Try recentering you rack again.

If your car has too much toe in after the adapter install and have adjusted the inner and outer tie rods to the max,, (bottoming out the inner into the outer) if you have more threads on the inner just cut about 1/2-1" of the threads off the end of the inner tie rod that threads into to the outer and wham more toe out adjust-ability

I cut off a few mm's of thread from my passenger tie rod and it was the best idea ever!!!
I also used a Tap and Die kit to make the threads go in longer on the tie rod.
Then I backed out the die to make sure the tie rod end still has a good starting thread to work into the outer joint.
full adjustability now. :)
