i looked up the s13 and s14 steering knuckle and the part number was the same, but my s13 friend tells me that my s14 knuckle looks different than his s13 knuckle.

oh well, i guess they can look different(who cares), but now i need to know if the steering shafts for all s-chasis are the same; thickness wise and spline count and whatever!!!

s13 steering knuckles are easier to find so this is why i ask. thanks

S13 knuckles require smaller spindle bolts, as well as the ball joint that goes to the LCA is different as well.

S14 knuckles require bigger spindle bolts, as well as their ball joint that goes to the LCA is different.

i was referring to the knuckle/joint that connects the steering shaft to the rack and pinion.

thats part of the steering knuckle. s13 rack and 14 racks are the same, only difference between the two are the inner tie rods AFAIK. just swap s13 inner tie rod for s14 inner tie rod and you now have a s14 rack...

in other words, your friends wrong. the two racks are identical afaik

I don't know if anyone has bothered investigating it. Its not a part that usually needs replacing.
you mentioning knuckle makes most people thing of the suspension knuckle that has your hub spindle on it.

Seriously are you having hard time finding this particular piece. Its not all that uncommon.
You could always try and use the s14 one on the S13. LOL
