Does the spring go where the green arrow points or the red arrow?

red arrow. the green arrow is the piston end which blocks off the air. its called the iacv-aac ie auxilliary air control

Thanks...

I was testing the solenoid with 12volts to see if it clicked and now it must be stuck, because I can't get the piston in far enough to fit the solenoid onto the AICV.

Would that mean the solenoid is bad? [possibly a stupid question]

The dealer wants around $225 for the whole thing.

try it with the fat end of piston in the solenoid. do the exact oppostie of what people have told you.

study the ficd solenoid in the picture in other thread. the fat end goes in solenoid and spring goes on narrow end of piston. assuming the pic is right.
