ka-t help

hello

im working on my ka-t and i am a noob. i have a 1996 240sx and just started the turbo process.

so far i have:

mounted t25 turbo and manifold, and hooked up all the ic piping. also, installed bov and vacuum blocks.

my question is:

1. if i pressurize the vac system, is it normal to have air coming out of the hose circled?

http://i457.photobucket.com/albums/q...r/IMG_3375.jpg

(that picture above is not my setup. i stole it from the t25 installation guide (which i have been using). but, the nipple that hose connects to is the one in question. i have air coming out of it when i attempt to pressurize the vac system.)

2. if i buy the egr plug from jgs tools, do i still need to use egr block off plates?

this is the plug in question:

http://jgsturbo.com/tk266.jpg

"This CNC Machined EGR fitting plugs the EGR pipe without need for removable of the EGR valve (labor intensive). It can also be drilled out to be used to connect the OEM EGR pipe to any down pipe (all that is needed to be emissions legal in some states). Also by connecting the EGR stock OBD2 ecu's will be less likely to trigger codes."

any help would be appreciated since i am running out of ideas.

thanks,
-alan

I didn;t see your picture but i don't believe you are supposed to have are escaping any of your vac. system my buddy uses zip ties to keep his vac. lines connected.(it's a common problem to blow off your vac. lines once you go turbo.) 2 no you don't need an EGR block off plate but you'll have to keep the EGR valve and that long tube that connects to you're exhaust manifold and you're gonna need a big ass bolt to plug the hole in your exhaust manifold.

sorry i didnt check if the picture was working when i first posted, but that is the right pic. when i pressurize the vac system, air is coming out of the circled pipe. then it just leaks through the compressor side of the turbo and through the maf.

no you shouldnt have a leak there, that goes back to your IACV or idle air control valve. you have hose clamps on it, and are they snug?

hey punxva,

if i pressurize the vac system, should air be able to move out of that nipple (iacv) freely? i removed the pipe for diagnosis and found that if i pressurize the vac system, it will come out of this nipple.

hey punxva, one last question...

if air moves out of that nipple freely, wouldnt it just leak through the ic piping? in my setup, that nipple is connected to my ic piping, so air would just leak as follows:

iacv -> ic piping -> compressor side of turbo -> air suction pipe (connected to mafs)
