So after 18 months of sitting and not moving, it's time to start working on the car again. The apartment complex I was living in absolutely refused to let me work on the car anymore so I was forced to just let it sit and bake in the Florida sun. The pain is faded to hell and back, dash and steering wheel are cracked and nasty, the rubber is dried out and flaking off and the rubber lines all under the hood are dried and nasty. Now that I have a garage at my new place I can put it under the knife. Its going to be a LOOONG project as my plans include:

stripping the car and painting it
tasteful body kit
new weatherstripping (not looking forward to this part)
5-lug conversion + new wheels
z32 brakes
coilovers
uncracked dash
new interior carpet
new steering wheel
freshening up of the motor
new exhaust

Gonna have to fix that rust bubble. Its the only rust on the whole car.


Some slight rear quarter damage where my fiancee hit a chain link fence after sliding off the road in the rain.






Goal is 1 year start to finish. I'll constantly update the thread as it progresses. Wish me luck!

Soon learn? I have had this car for years man. Already did a full engine rebuild myself on it, lol.

Stopped by a body shop today to ask if I could get a professional opinion on the light rear quarter panel damage. What I got instead was a lecture about how I am wasting my time and money on a 240sx. The guy then tells me "Best case scenario, you bring your car in and needs zero bodywork, you are looking at $3,000 and up just for paint."

you probably dont want to hear this but doing the work yourself helps stay under budget and you will never forget the skills you learn and the people you meet in the process.

when my girlfriend got hit in her 240 the dealer charged 1100.00 to replace the rear quarter as in cutting out the old one and welding in a new one.

do that then do the rest by yourself.

Just get a new non rusted hatch, and driver fender, then at least theres less body work to do..maybe a good idea i think

I had already planned on getting a new front fender. And the rust on the hatch wasn't really my concern. It was the rear quarter panel. I just wanted an opinion on whether it could be popped out or if it would have to be cut out and welded. I had planned on doing all the prep work myself on the car, all I wanted was an opinion. I guess I got one.

Not much of an update, but I pulled the front bumper and damaged fender off. Some slight damage behind the fender, but it was nothing that a few whacks of a hammer couldn't fix. It was pinch up and I just hammered it down. As for the front bumper, the metal support that goes across the top and bottom was rusted to HELL! Thankfully I am replacing the front bumper with an aftermarket.

if you can buy one of those rivet guns then u could pull your rear fenders out pretty easy i think they go for like 300 bucks but they can be used over and over again i did mine myself when my dad decided to let my sentra roll down the driveway into his truck took me only like 30 minutes minus smoothing shit out

Meh, for $300 I can just get some overfenders. I gotta paint the car anyway.
