We'll see whether Enkei continues to have them produce the same products or not. I hope so, or by the time I can actually afford SP1s there won't be any to buy. |

not sure if they were bought out but after they went bankrupt, we were unable to order anything from them in Japan. Speed Star is still around but the SSR division is what's gone....for now at least.
The best alternative I can think of to SSR is Work but they're not anywhere as cheap =/ |

SSR got bought out, they'll still be around. it wasn't Enkei either. You'd be real surprised if you found out who bought em

the latest info that luke@tirerack recieved, posted on i-club
As you know, Speed Star Co. Ltd and Speed Star Sales Co. ltd went bankrupt on January 27th this year. The disappearance of their high end technology and the traditional brand maintained for more than thirty years will not be acceptable to the people concerned in the after market as very shocking and unforgettable news of 2005. We were looking for measures of their reconstruction in some way since January 27th because we had been engaged in the sales of their products in South East Asian countries and had a favorable relationship with them long term. We, Tanabe Co.,Ltd, have been selected as the exclusive buyer of business rights and assets of the two companies (Speed Star Racing & Speed Star Wheel) as the result of the tender invited by the receiver. We will need more or less one month to complete the transfer of the assets from the receiver and to restart the production and sales. We will keep you informed each time the details come to be clear. We will continue to produce SSR products as well as our Tanabe products |

i don't know about that being legit....Speed Star did not go bankrupt, only their SSR division did. So why would they sell Speed Star and SSR?

whats wrong with buying SSR's at tire rack? I bought a set of SSR GT1's there last year. great wheels and they're lighter than my friend's BBS wheels on his 328is

their lack of knowlege of the model line or proper sizing doesn't help either...I had so many customers go back and forth with me on the options and sizing....the guys working there were clueless
