Check out this new program aimed at bringing the drift community together.
The Takeover The takeover is a global drift club. Basically it's video game style achievements in real life drifting. Challenge your friends to battles, go to drift events, earn ranks and prizes. Really fun idea to bring everyone together. |

Doing some more shakedown today. Adjusted a bunch of shit and new clutch master. Fingers crossed the clutch works and I don't have to do a crazy clutch job between now and Sunday. |

Thanks! I am running a 15mm spacer to make the wheels 17x9 0 offset. I rub on the sway bar because PBM lower control arms move the tc rods inboard quite a bit.

Yesterday could have gone better for Golden Gate Drift ProAm Round 1. Qualified 4th but got one hell of a bracket. Had to go up against a LS S14 right off the bad, went OMT and won but the clutch wasn't feeling so good. Top 8 went up against another V8 S chassis, went OMT again and was called a loss even though I felt I threw down a gangster follow run. I've got to get higher on the bank. Clutch is done, work on car starts next weekend.

I wasn't taking any footage. I decided to skip on it so I could focus on driving. Carbon Studios will be putting together a video from the event and I will post it up as soon as it is done.

Definitely not. The plan was to stay SR for ProAm and go LS once I get into FD, but at this rate SR might not be enough for ProAm any more. There were no less than 9 Schassis LS cars out at ProAm, 2 on the podium including the winner.

So 2 out of the top 3 had a LS motor, what did the other guy have? Surely it had to be an LS because there were 9 total LS powered cars there and only a LS can beat a LS. While you are contemplating switching motors, don't forget who actually drives the car: you! Just because someone has a LS in their car, doesn't mean they aren't also a damn good driver. Maybe they could out drive you in your own car. (not trying to say you are a bad driver, just a scenario) meh, I don't know how to end my rant. end/

You need to way out your options though.
You don't need to go V8 you could easily keep up and or stomp them with a 1jz or a 2jz, call me biased but it's true. Don't get me wrong a roaring LS sweeping banks is awesome but I'm tired of everyone saying "I'm under powered, I need a V8" and if we are specifically talking about FD look who won last year.... Speaking on what I know a full 2JZ swap, (motor, trans, harness, ecu can be had anywhere between 2-5000$) a LS is around 5000$ for the motor and trans. Not trying to say your thoughts are wrong but just saying weigh your options first. I do agree though that a SR is very underpowered for ProAm good luck bro |
