Hmm. Every 240sx I have ever seen (about 100+ of them) has always leaked power steering fluid from the lines coming off the reservoir / pump.

In fact, when I look at a 240sx to buy, I always make sure its leaking power steering. Because if it is not leaking power steering, then something is terribly wrong.

So check upstairs first, it may be that the PS fluid is just running down onto the boot/rack from above.

I verified that it's leaking from the tie rod boot. The boot has a slight tear.

It is likely a worn rack seal, which is a cheap part. However, disassembling the steering rack to replace the seal, is an involving task.

Yup, and IIRC, a rebuilt rack is only 150-200 bones IIRC... Given the work involved, makes better sense to just replace the whole shabang.

A lot of the remanufactured units require you to send back your core to get the advertised pricing. The plus side is that they also usually offer a lifetime warranty..

Upgraded tie rods, solid or urethane bushings, solid steering bushing, silicone boots. As far as seals or anything internal to the rack itself - OEM or equivalent is the way to go... If it lasts 150+k miles before leaking, why 'upgrade' (KISS concept)
