My new CNCed 6061T6 aircraft grade (that sounds so wanky lol) billet alloy adapter plate arrived via courier the other week. Still waiting on the dowels to come from the US but this should be ok to go together and into the car so we can fab the rest up I can put those in later. We weren't really happy with how any of the other Z32 conversions went together so decided to make our own.
More soon! =) |

I had a day off so took the plate over to Hypertune and had a go at getting it all into the car.
The plate bolted up fine no issues there at all. Another angle. Box popped on without any problems I didnt bother putting the clutch in yet and it'll all have to come out again probably more than once too. Makeshift tranny mount to hold the box up until we fab up a proper one. For now so we can get started I pulled the CAS back out cause it was too close to the firewall. Reinstalled the mazworx bung and refitted the engine, 6boost mani and gates. They look so tiny without anything else in the engine bay! Two shots with my new Hero2 GoPro from PhilB Enterprises. I didnt realise it'd take cool fisheye lens stills aswell as video. So probably be prepared to be spammed with these cause I love wide angle shots. =D Obviously most of you know PhilB if you need anything GoPro I'd highly recommend him to deal with! Excuse the shot with my phone. More soon! |

Took delivery of some parts again on Friday looks like everything will work as planned! Some pics.
Low profile quick release steering wheel boss this should hopefully pair with the short boss I already have to put the wheel in a good position for me. Quite a neat little unit. Although I'm not sure its deep enough to seat the Nardi horn button which is a bit annoying. Very low profile in comparison to any other systems I've come across. Cushioned Z shifter. Crystal indicators to sit in the origin front bar a bit ricey but should look good against the white. More soon! |

I had a bit of luck on Friday, headed to SSS chasing an S14 Non ABS diff housing and finding they only had complete diffs ($300 worth) I headed over to Unigroup to drop off James wheels for some tuning thats about to get done on his car in the next week or two.
What was on the floor when I walked in but a broken S14 Non ABS diff. $50 later and it was in the boot and I was on my way. Took some pictures on the weekend of my diff (the oily looking one) compared to the "new" S14 one. The only real difference being how the front of the diff mounts up. This will allow be to run it urethane mounted taking abit of shock out of the drive train and vibration out of the car. (fingers crossed anyways!) For now I'll just scrub this one up a bit and bolt it into the car so the tail shaft can get made up. More soon! |

Dropped by UAS and picked up my reco'd and blasted alternator. Very happy with hows its come out looks basically brand new now. Fitted up the new pulley and should hopefully get time soon to head over to Hypertune and install it and the newly finished power steering bracket/pump. So we know roughly where it'll all sit and dont find out later some of the work thats been done fouls on something else when installed.

Dropped into repco on my way to Hypertune today as I had to pickup some belts to suit the new mounting positions for the alternator and power steering pump. The alternator one was in stock the power steering one I've had to order in and can pickup tomorrow.
I've also ordered some water pump studs from Nissan. The new pulley kit comes with bolts but the new pump and the new pulley kit both came without any studs to suit so I've mocked it up with some bolts for now until they come in. Thanks to Andrew for making me up this power steering bracket as well. It sits in a nice low position now. 4PK685 for the power steering 5PK915 for the alternator and water pump The new front subframe studs from Nissan also came in. The old ones in the car now have some damage. Will be putting some tacks on these with the welder before they're painted, so they can never spin in the plate like the other ones have. More soon! =) |

So I went over to UAS and picked up my diff which had been sent off for cleaning. Man these guys do an awesome job! I'm thinking now I might just get it done in clear coat and leave it. Super happy with how well it came up it looks as good as new.
Also picked up some S15 Diff bolts which John had ordered in for me and realised I cant really put it in before I get the two nuts to suit the rear cups. So should be able to dummy it up soon and get a drive shaft under way. More soon! |

I'm doing anything which involves elbow grease which has saved me a stupid amount of hours and $$ along with it. Putting things together. Sourcing all the parts needed in advance at the best possible prices with time on my side. Trying to plan ahead how we're doing things so overall the project turns out well and things dont look slapped in there at the last minute cause it wasn't thought of already. Im sure there will still be some things no matter what though. I shudder to think what this car would cost someone if someone just gave a workshop a complete car and said this is what I want, build me this. Hope you guys enjoy it though plenty more to come before its "finished"! |

It'll probably see a car show or two when its finished. Nothing wrong with looking pretty as long as shes functional too right?

Dropped by Hypertune this week and we bolted up the bottom half of my intake plenum to have a look. They're a six piece design with the flange plate, runners and plenum chamber all being separate pieces bolted together with o-ring seals. The plenum chamber itself isnt welded on yet (obviously) but I thought it'd be cool to get some shots of it before its finished.
Pulled off the metal flange plate keeping the intake ports all nice and clean. Popped it on with two nuts for a test fit. You can see here the angle of the runners going into the flange plate. This is the same angle the ports themselves take down to the valves, so no unnecessary corners. There is a fair amount more machining to have it this way I'm told. Very shiny will be getting some anodizing done before it gets a final fit up though. Injector bosses into the flange plate. The whole thing is machined from 6061T6 alloy except the chamber itself which is 3mm alloy sheet, hydroformed in a mold. Hopefully get some more pics of the later stages before its all together too. Gives you a good idea of how straight the run is down to the valves you can actually see the back of them from the strut tower :P Tried to get a shot looking right down the runner. One shining my phone down the injector boss. Gave up with the SLR and got one with my phone camera wedged in the end, its hard to see how seamless the fit is from the picture. You can run your finger down it though and there is a lip which you can barley feel or see other than the change of texture. More soon! |

so jealous.. so jealous..
everything looks amazing. why did you choose to go with polyurethane diff bushing instead of solid? is this going to be a street/track car? that's the only reason I can think of.

Yeh man it will be a street/track car. Even if it was track only though I'd probably still go with the urethane. There is no gain from solid mounting it I can see in any way. It just increases the risk of cracking things and puts more shock through the drive train than if its "soft mounted".
