I tried searching.
My stock intake cam has a crack at the dowel pin. I have another stock cam to replace it with. Can I simply swap it over without line bore, messing with cam caps, messing with shims. Simply just put it in??

As long as the journals of the cam look good, I don't see why not.

Its simple, go buy yourself some feeler gauges. Check every valve and shim to the cam shaft in the head now. Replace said camshaft with cam shaft#2. Recheck valves and shims. If theres a difference then youll be re-shimming the head. At least this way youll get a baseline of what you had and what you have now.

You wont need to align hone for the new cams.

I would defiantly say do this if you had solid lifters.

As long as your stock hydraulic lifters are good the difference should be so minimal they will compensate for the difference

Yes they are stock lifters. I figured as much but thank you for the reply. I will feelers gauge just for the hell of it.

Dual cams are solid stock, singles are hydraulic stock. Use the feeler gauges

Perhaps you're tripping, because you're wrong. GTI-Rs are solid lifter SR20DET's...
