i dont like the ash tray loaction, that would make your arm awkward like s2k's cup holder while shifting, yeah you can get used it. But i say for the arm rest holder or the door panel one, but shit looks complicated, or maybe make the arm rest a flip back, strengthen the lid to support drinks etc so you can place drinks on the underside of the lid.

^ That's nice but I actually use my armrest for my arm... The ash tray is really the perfect spot IMO.
And you don't need two cup holders. Your passenger isn't driving so he/she can hold their beverage haha.

I don't agree with any beverages in the center console region, my arm is too active around that area and sometimes I like to rest my arm on the armrest (go figure).
That passenger side door panel cup holder is perfect IMO, but would only work for power window door panels. Manual crank lever would get in the way most definitely.

i would say the cup holder insert in the armrest(where you have the lid open) would be a good place to start. so you can have your armrest without holes on the top, and your drink wouldnt get in the way of your shifting.
the door one is pretty cool idea but i have manual windows =\ so iono if itll get in da way |

Wow! So many diverse opinions. Like I said earlier, I'm going to make the ashtray one first because it's a little simpler and won't take as much R&D as the arm rest one but I am working on both right now. The dash vent ones are interesting but don't they put additional stress on the vents themselves? I don't know about the rest of you but my vents had trouble staying put when I got my car. So I ended up taking them apart and adding a small O-ring to one end of the vent on the plastic peg that it pivots up and down on. Then I snapped it back together and voila, like new vent. It is tricky to get them apart without breaking the tabs but it's much easier with a little heat.

and here I was wondering why zilvia feels so repetitive and dry with the same build threads and the same stance and tire threads... This guy was willing to make a neat product, and people are discussing ideas (gasp). I know, crazy, right? // Got my wiper motor cover in, btw, pretty nice, and not brittle/flimsy. Just gotta get around to deleting my ABS pump so I can install it. Rip, you got any pics of the progress with the cupholder yet? |

I wouldnt even use this for cups honestly. Anything I drink in a car can typically be bought in a bottle anyways.
I would just prefer a clean cup holder in place of the ash tray. That ash tray is uselss to me... |

I'm not sure I like that because I feel as if it would get in the way of my hand while shifting..?
Idk maybe I'm being too critical but i'd prefer the ash tray being a cup holder. Nah you're right, it's not Nico...but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make our shitty ass cars less shitty..

By adding a cupholder to your shitty car, chances are itll be a shitty cupholder, and spill your shitty drink, all into your shitty cars floor, making it thus more shitty.

I don't really drink soda any more, but every now and then I go by Taco Bell just for Baja Blast. I find this to be completely worth having a cup holder lol.

What about these? Nice and cheap. I'm not about to pay $130 for a scuffed up "JDM" cup holder.

A fellow on NICO used to make these years ago.
If I recall correctly, he would get the cup holder liners from junked Chevrolet Malibus and other generic GM vehicles. They could be used just the same for the ash tray location as well, I suppose. -Edit- Seems that someone already posted these on the second page. |
