the perfect coilovers?
Recently I just purchased a 96 s14, my first 240. I want to begin modding it and I decided suspension would come first. Now I'm not one of these ballers that you see in the build section so I can't really grab stance coils without a second thought.
So I guess my debate so far has been between brands like D2, Megan, Function & Form, etc. I'm looking to spend a maximum of $900ish, shipping included. So what I'm asking is, what is the nicest coilover set I can get with that kind of money? I'm down to buy new or used and want something adjustable and something that will last. |

Search, there are a lot of reviews.....
Power by Max with Swift springs.... You want the best, then you can either build it yourself with Ground Control stuff and custom housings or by Zeal Functions....

If you only have $900 to spend on coilovers then don't even bother. I'd rather give someone $900 and have them kick me in the balls than have shitty coilovers again.

well like I said I'm not one of those ballers who have all the time and money and open space in their garage. I work almost every day and try to do the best with what I've got.

I'm not trying to be cheap, it just takes me a while to save up $900. I'm not looking for the perfect coils in your eyes. I'm looking for the best coils I can afford.

I saw the thread title and was excited. Starting reading responses and well...
Perfect Coilover and $1000 sets is a complete oxymoron. You might was well discuss Perfect Whores without a STD. If you want PERFECT, call AST, KW or JRZ, give them specifics on exactly what you want and what your vehicle will be used for. They will make you a perfect set for north of $3000. Otherwise the rest can be considered good. |

Lol.... This thread again OP just save up a few more bucks and get PBMs they're like 900 something and pretty good, or if ur patient keep ur eyes fixed on the marketplace as someone is most likely gonna be selling a set of used good coils. DO NOT BUY CHEAP ASS COILS, Megan's are crap don't know anything bout the other two brands. But when u cheap out on stuff like that u will end up spending more in the long run

Yes it is absolutly worth the extra 200. Fortunes cant be compared to megan or d2 etc.... they suck. Fortunes are a quality piece . Saving up a little more opens up much better options like stance pbm dmax fortune and a few others

And directed to everyone else: Sorry if a 240 without top of the line everything makes you cringe. Believe me, if I had the time and money I'd grab the nicest things I could. I didn't create this thread to be flamed for not being able to afford the best coils. I made it so I could get some good input about the best coilovers that I could afford. So thanks to everyone for the latter. |

Honestly, my coupe has ebay coils that get the job done(only cost $440 shipped). At my job last year I was only making $200 every 2 weeks so I was building my car on an extremely low budget. I still get down, they're just not as stiff. But now that I'm in the military I can magically afford PBMs which I'll be buying for myself as a birthday present next month.

Megans are okay for a track only car and PBM's are all around awsome, from personal xp.

/thread; under 900 coilovers are a quick (not very good) fix which a bunch of people in my generation like to take advantage of. Do more research (instead of asking for a spoonfeeding), do it right the first time, and be pleased about your investment in the LONG run. |
