S14 1jz Brother build

Hey Guys,
Posting this on behalf of my Brother. Im helping him swap a 1jz into his s14. The project is ongoing, and the swap probably wont happen until he has everything he needs to do it.

Being a AVID 1jz owner myself (755whp 1jz supra) it was a no-brainer for us to choose the 1jz motor. I literally know these motors inside and out. He has always shown interest in my 1jz, so when I finally convinced him to buy a 240 (has liked those more than my supras) we knew we would eventually do a 1j swap.

This is his car as he bought it; 1995 240sx. Manual swap. Came with K2 coilovers, Megan Ruca, mirrors, 1-piece DS. about it.

When He first picked it up:

First thing we did was replace his leaky rack:

random Shot:

Fast Forward about 4-5 months of dailying I came upon a sweet deal of a 1jz from a buddy. So I told him to jump on it.

The plan is to run stock twins, r154. simple, cheap and reliable. Plan Is to tear down the 1jz, replace every gasket and seal, clean, paint, ceramic coat to make it look presentable, and keep it going strong.

The day he picked it up:

Immediately got it to the shop and on a stand:

Stated to pull the twins off:

Twins off.

pulled the intake side off with harness:

1 day down:

pulled off the valve covers, solvent tanked them, then sand blasted the insides with the baffles off.

Picked up a y-pipe:

Front turbo was leaky so we sent them out to get rebuilt. WHile that was getting done we ceramic coated the Hot side stuff. its hard to keep a car cool here in AZ.

dirty 1jz pics:

Yes. Everything on this car will done "in-house" by him or myself. Cleaning, building, painting, swapping, wiring, exhaust, intercooler etc etc.

Yes, Dad owns it. We both work here. I've been here for about 9 years. Have gotten to make some sweet stuff. My Supra wouldn't be where its at with the shop.

Small update:
Battery relocation wiring came in. 20' of black and 20' of red should be plenty to put the battery wherever. Same welding wire I'm running. $1.50 a foot

Okay finally got around to cleaning up the block:

Added some Gloss black engine enamel:

Wire brushed and W-40 the pistons

Scraped off the access shit off the block, and hand lapped it.

New Head-gasket on:

Welded small bung on head and the coolant pipe that goes around the block so we can delete coolant to the TB, IAC.

Scrapped off all the crap off the head and hand lapped the head:

On:

New oring for waterpump and assembled:

Hopefully tomorrow we can finish up the block with the rest of the orings and gaskets.

Swap brackets came in from Zerolift!

Also a buddy dropped off some pressure plate for the R154. will be sending one of these off to Southbend to be rebuilt and modified, also will pick up their Full-face kevlar endurance discs.

Thanks, yeah I love the 1js. I'll eventually build him a gt3076 or gt3582 sized turbo for this once he's ready. For now, twins will be plently of power for him.

Yes, that is my mk3.

Thanks man. Yeah I upgrade these turbos, 1js, 2js, 7ms, machine out the compressor profile to fit larger compressor wheels. Was the first one to do an upgraded billet compressor on the ct26s. I'm in quality now, so I manage our as9100 system and do all the inspections.

Finished up Modifying and clean up the oil pump, drilled out the bypasses, shimmed 3mm, added hex hardware and cleaned it up.

New front main seal and installed:

Drilled and tapped lower pan for return flange:

Added studs then cleaned up the through bore

Fits great:

Sand blasted and painted:

Installed the Pee shooters;
[IMG]http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j182/hitman022005/1jz%20240sx%20Nick/3E35F17F-1480-4C25-949C-2E7193A14DCB_zpshv0i42f5.jpg

Got the pressure plate in a box and sent it out to South Bend clutch. They are gonna be sending us back a pressure plate to hold 500ftlbs and the stage 3 full face endurance kevlar disc. Should be plenty enough to hold the power goals now, and then.

Also we ended up trading a 1ggte HKS fcon for a 1jz lightweight 11.5lbs flywheel. We were really leaning toward the Competition flywheel since its a 14lb. But ill take a trade all day if it benefits both partys. His car is also lighter so Probably wont need the extra mass. I personally run a 19lbs flywheel.

So thats it, drivetrain is pretty much done. Need to move onto radiator and fan setup. and then wiring before we can pull the KA

Flywheel came in:

Installing Turbo shit:

Okay so for Cooling I think were gonna go the route of Stock koyo Mk3 supra radiator and clutch fan. Should keep temps under control. Its the same setup I run.

Also the Money he saved on the flywheel, and the new cooling system were gonna go with, He decided to order a Brand New converted harness from Wiring specialties. Said should take 1-6days to get!
