I never expected them to compete with the 1080. I always figured 1070 was the range. I am skeptical of AOTS benches. Remember the rx480 xfire vs the 1080?

cf 480 @dx12 can probably run thru 1080 by now.

as usual amd driver updates increasing performance over time.

on the 8th relive driver is going to improve it even moar.

on the 13th new horizon event "zen". I'm also guessing new gpu unveil also?

^ I watched the event too.

Remember the rx 480 release where AMD showed a chart of crossfire cards beating a 1080? Cool in that one game, except when it came out, the twin cards loss in 90% of other games that Xfire would even run it. This is my concern with these benches.

Now don't get me wrong. I am all about team Red. I want an AMD system. I'd love a Ryzen 6 core with an RX 490. So I hope this is true.

I don't care how fast or great AMD cards have gotten, out of the three AMD machines I've had...all three always gave me driver issues. I can only remember the last graphics card which was the Radeon 5850. Gave it three tries and won't go back. Sticking with Intel.

GPU...with NVidia drivers I usually wait for some sort of review cause when they suck they suck hard. as for amd I updated whatever what they put out and usually I had no issues with it. there's some that comes up but amd drivers has been on a roll with better performance scaling over time.

^Intel just does give af. I mean they have pretty much ran the cpu market for a decade. If those Zen prices are anywhere near those price points it will turn Intel on its head.

If Ryzen does not deliver I am not sure AMD could survive.

I need to upgrade my monitor. I am rocking a single 1080p still. I am debating triple 1080 or a 27" 1440P.

really depends on the games you'll be playing.

racing and sims triple gets you that immersion. some fps get you that immersion. most games you'll need external programs (ex: all Bethesda games) just to run proper HUD and sizing, minimize that corner stretch.

1440p and fast refresh are like fps games and majority of games. gets you that higher detail res with fast refresh for smoother gameplay.

your other option is 21:1 monitors with 100+ overclock ability. like that Korean monitor I posted earlier. probably my next monitor.
