What's a safe boost

Ok basically I blew the oil seals on my turbo. The turbo is the IHI JAPAN turbo that came on the autech s14 so basically a larger version of the t28. My red top sr is fitted with supertec pistons, arp studs, 1.2mm head gasket, 850cc inj, 255lph pump, inter cooler, aluminum rad and a power fc d-jetro. I sent my turbo to pure turbo in Cali for a rebuild and they told my my actuator opens at about .5bar. Iv read that stock t28s run between .7 and.9 bar. If I run at .8 bar, am I safe?? Will I need to get it maped again for safety??

Are you tuned for the current setup? Hard to say definitively though. Put a wideband on it and watch AFR's. I think your injectors and rest of the setup are a bit overkill for that tiny turbo.

Yea I'm tuned for it. Made 347hp with current set up. Reason I want to keep the turbo is because of how rare it is. Stupid I know.

"safe boost" has so much more meaning when you say with respect to ________

Safe boost with respect to octane?
Safe boost with respect to compressor?
Safe boost with respect to turbine?
Safe boost with respect to compression ratio?
Safe boost with respect to combustion chamber design?
Safe boost with respect to plug heat range?
Safe boost with respect to weather / terrain?
Safe boost with respect to (the big picture)?

You are saying "t-28" which makes me want to say 12psi because for all T-28 turbochargers on sr20det engines, even with camshaft upgrades and head work, 12psi should just about cover it....

... now, if you DO have camshaft upgrades and head work, then 12psi will NOT cover it past, say, 7200rpm. So no, 9,000RPM + T-28 + 12psi is not a good idea.

With respect to the turbocharger, you should stay within the flow-rate limitation of the compressor, generally

with respect to the engine/octane/etc... , different story again

Thats what I wanted to say, well kinda. Just in a much shorter version, as I kinda hate explaining things with detail.

Kingtalon pretty much answered a few questions for you here.
