"Power" compared to "rim size"

Not sure if this should be posted in this section or if its been discussed but im curious about the subject. Im going to be getting rims for my s14 soon but i want to see what size rims compared to the amount of power they're spinning them with.

There are some 18x10.5 im looking at but im thinking that might be a lil too big for a s14 with SR, stock t28(10lbs), midmount. And the other option that these wheels come in is 18x9 which is smaller than id like. I was thinking id go 18x9.5-10 in rear & 18x9-10 up front. Would an inch make that big of a difference when it comes to getting/keeping the car sideways(assuming your suspension is legit)?

Lets hear what you guys have to say about the subject...
