Help! Ka/sr Speed sensor swap.

k i was looking around and cant find what im looking for.

i want to get the speedometer working, so i need to switch Sr's s13 blacktop speed sensor (orange sensor tip) to my KA 1995 red tip sensor.

2 problems.

this is just easy as sotering 2 wires. but!

1) SR's sensor wires are both green with a white stripe. BOTH.
2) KA's are red with a stripe and just pure red.

How the hell to determine which wires to soter?? trial and error? i dont want to shock anything out.

you can pull your KA speed sensor and just unbolt your sr sensor and install the KA one unless your KA was an auto . . connect the plug and your done
If its an auto just get a s14 KA manual speed sensor and install it . you do not need to solder or cut wires

no no, SR sensor doesnt have a plug. its wired into the sensor.

ka has a plug. you have to cut wires. im not replacing the whole harness after the pain in the ass wiring we did in the bay.

remember this is S14 not s13, sensor is different.

unfortunatly its night so i can't go check, but here's what i think i remember (i have a redtop in a 95)

i honestly remember the wires for the speed sensor coming off the lower KA harness were red and red with yellow stripe. but i forget what colors the sensor wires were.

i'll check for you tomorrow and let you know the results. and i'll see if i can dig up my fsm's i have on cd. maybe i could send them to you so you'd always be set. saved me numerous times.

K im still confused, why cant u just swap the Sensor off ur KA into the SR? Last i remember the Speed Sensor plug is ....NOooo wait....k i remember now. I used the WHOLE KA TRANNY HARNESS AND SENSORS off my S14. The S13 Speed sensor, the plug for it runs all the way by the starter while the S14 KA one *least on my 97* is just the sensor and the plug is rite there attached to the lower harness. *sorry for the gibberish...its hella late*

yea.....it's easier just to use your lower wiring harness from your KA instead of the SR. that way u can just plug everything in and enjoy. use your KA sensors
