CT PS Rack -AN fittings. Brand new, machined so they will not leak.

These are "brand new" unused rack fittings with -6 AN line size. They have been turned on a lathe so that they will thread into the rack far enough to allow for the o-rings to seal properly. Any store bought fittings will leak if you don't do this.

Exactly how much has changed from the 2nd pic (still in package) to the turned version in the 1st picture? Trying to figure out exactly where it was lathed/turned to make it go further in the rack.

Here's a picture before, they machine the center section (part with the hex shape to it) to be thinner.

Hate to be a hard-on about this, but all you have to do is use a copper washer or even an aluminum washer to seal perfectly.

But to properly seal it should seal like an oem part with an oring....and in order to do so they have to be machined slightly like he has done here.....sealing them with a washer is a bandaid at best...

Yes, both pics are of machined parts, I just put them back in the package to protect them.

The exterior face of the rack is raw casting, it is not meant to be a sealing surface and while you may get lucky and not have a leak it isn't really the proper way to do it. Pipe dope or various other sealants are not correct either.

I already have my complete an setup for ps on my s14. And I have a leak at the rack as has been mentioned. Mind letting me now how much of the fitting is being machined off? I dont wanna take to much off and make things worse.

Yo this needs to be stickied cause holy shit. i had the HARDEST time finding the proper fittings. even tho i managed to just cheat and use a crush washer and i forgot what else i did, this is EXACTLY what i needed and could have saved me HOURS! a fucking MUST.

I'm pretty sure Sikky offers the machined down fittings with one of their s13-ls swap kits.
And I heard they will sell you just the fittings if you give them a call.

Looks like the chase bay fitting does the opposite? Uses a longer o ring side.

So which one actually solves the problem? And is it just the high pressure side that is the issue or both?

I have regular AN fittings on mine from a parts store and they are leaking.

Unless chase bays just started utilizing these fittings, they dont work. I have the chase bays ps kit and mine are leaking! I have had the kit for a little over a year so maybe they just now started using the correct fittings and i have the early style or something.

Personally I'd avoid trimming back the hex on the fitting b/c you'll be thinning out your wrench's contact surface and increasing the likelihood of rounding off the flats.

I am taking from the end of the threads up half way through the hex section. This worked well on s13 rack. It would be a good place to start for you.

You need the o-ring to seal before the threads bottom out or the hex section hits the rack. Whether that is a longer snout with o-ring or more length of threads it doesn't really matter.

Their site says they are custom machined but the image they use does not have the correct dimensions. They seem to have been getting better at developing parts to work correctly but not sure that status of these.

You don't need all that much torque to make the o-ring seal properly. These are steel fittings so rounding them off is not that easy. I personally would rather be careful in tightening then glopping on tons of pipe dope in hopes that it alone contains the hydraulic pressure of the power steering system.

I can't confirm either way but this would be cool, they should advertise this instead of just making it a part of an ls swap kit.
