It's definitely an underrated swap. Most people look at the overall power number and stray away from it, but fail to realize the powerband. I guess they also neglect the importance of gearing as well, but those who do get it, get it!

Most folks are having electrical issues because they aren't aware of how the system was engineered. Most of the time it's a bad crank angle sensor because it's exposed to the elements. Pretty simple fix. I've have yet to run into an electrical issue that wasn't just an "operator error."

Turtle, were you going to be making a billet solution for the throwout bearing? I remember you had thrown up some CAD images on here a while back, but it's deeply buried in this thread.

Going to be replacing my TO bearing soon, and replace the 3rd gear syncro in my tranny (so if anyone knows where to get Z33 syncros, hit me up!!). While I've got the tranny out I'll have to replace my battery since I've been having on and off starting problems.

Yeah, but the machine shop decided to jack the price up on me for those parts to where it wouldn't be a viable solution to this "budget" oriented swap. I have another solution in the works which is a lathed bearing spacer. Not sure how soon I will have them available though. I'm attempting to produce a lot of parts at the same time because they work in conjunction with each other, but capital is going to become an issue here pretty soon. I may need to do group buys for a few of the items i'll have up for sale after prototyping and testing is complete.

Just curious since i haven't checked up on this thread in far too long, Has anyone ran their UZ powered car at the drag strip? If so what kind of times are you seeing with them?

im quite interested in this too, but the closest drag strip to me is 4 hours away and i dont have a truck that can tow my car

drove the car for the first time yesterday and boy it feels FAST it was pissing rain out and i still have a bunch of rear camber so when i rolled into 2nd or 3rd it was wheel spin to limiter instantly

the idea behind my swap was to get the parts all together and seeing how cheaply it could be done for and if it;s comparable to an sr20 swap. that being said. it'll be more reliable and basic then an sr20 swap and easier to set up drifting with.

I cannot wait to take her to the drag strip. She feels really fast, but a welded diff will make it seem that way when youre just straight spinning.

Nope I have tried starting it like this about 15 times with gas all the way down, lightly pressed, and not pressed down at all. Possibly IACV?

Check for any vacuum leak anywhere. If the engine is turning over any listen for squeals when it shuts off. Also check and make sure you didn't forget to cap off or delete all of stock egr. Those things kept mine from wanting to stay running when I first got it to turn over.

Should be pretty easy. Seems like its wired pretty similarly to the 1jz, even shares aton of the plugs. Only issue would be the different ECU plugs for sc400/ls400 and model years.

Yep
We will rely on our 1J knowledge to speed things up. Sourcing some of the connectors is always the biggest paint in the butt.

I'm just asking to see what we would be able to use for engine management. I'm piecing everything together right now to run a turbo. I'm going to be using a holset hx35w with some 7mge fuel injectors.
