3090 card would be great if it came in at same or under 2080ti price, unlikely as it may be.

Sounds like a $1900 graphics cards.
I am looking at the 3080ti for potential upgrade but price gotta be right. I REFUSE to pay $1200 for a gpu. I can afford it but it is about principal. $1200 should be a decent entire pc build not just a gpu.

3080, non founders ed might come close to 700. Maybe even big navi. If not this year then maybe in 1-2 years with a 4070 or amd equivalent.
I don't like spending more than needed. however I think it's hard to avoid costs going up for just about everything these days. 1080ti was a bit more expensive than it's predecessors and even higher during the annoying bitcoin mining craze in '17 or so. |

pretty interesting look at things. makes sense why turing was a disappointment in terms of value and the 1080ti / pascal such a strong one. |

Nor do I want it to be the 3080ti.
I hope 3070 = 2080ti 3080 = 30%> 2080ti 3080ti = 50%> 2080ti ---- For Gits N Shiggles I through together a "Top of the line" build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/cwrigh25/saved/HZp7XL Without the GPU price drops to $1500.

yeah $7-800 for 30% more than 2080ti would be sweet spot. 30% more than 2080ti for a $1200 card, would be a little sad. can't wait for the OC AIB cards.
newish nvidia naming scheme pretty confusing. wish they'd stick to 3080, 3080ti, ampere titan. Was under the impression 3090 is the new titan but can't sure. don't know if there officially is a 3080ti as all ive heard is 3080, 3090, and possible titan. interestingly it's harder to find 2080ti cards. could not even come up with a single evga 2080ti on b&h photo site. So that is good news to me that they're being phased out, as there is less incentive to hold back the ampere cards. |

I was going to ask if you could put together a "common man's gaming pc" build but, this build you just provided doesn't really seem that bad price wise. |

I'd change the gpu to a 2080 super and the cpu to at 10700K. Instant savings of about $800. The cpu performance is not that diff. GPU performance is but as we all have stated the 2080ti just is not worth 1200. This is a high end build, 1440p 75-120fps. A mid tier build shooting for 1080P 75+fps would be even cheaper

2137 by switching gpu and cpu If i was buying new I'd get just a regular 2080 super, the FTW 3 Ultra cards perform better on a chart. You'd be hard press to see real difference in game.

Yeah, when I filtered to just "2080 Super" I didn't expect there to be 50 different options with no clear indications of the differences between them all.

ampere should be a bit more than a month away. 3080ti / 3090 looks to be over the top, hopefully not also terrible in price. 3080 might be best value. |

I'd say depends on what type of monitors you are trying to run.
1080p = 2,073,600 pixels 1080p *3 6,220,800 1440 = 3,686,400 1440 *3 11,059,200 4k = 8,294,400 4k*3 = doesn't matter can't run it at more than slide show

Honestly the plan is to run Assetto Corsa with triple monitors until VR is to a point where there is no screen-door effect or get hot/uncomfortable after a while but I want it to also be semi-VR ready. I don't need top of the line everything but I do want it to run without being choppy and shitty.

I'd go with 1080p triple since the pixel count is more than 1400p but less than 4k. you can use 4k benchmarks of the game to see roughly where you would land, knowing you would get a bit higer frame rate.

I've never noticed any screen door effect when playing Assetto on different VR setups that friends have. Maybe if you just sat still and focused on one spot idk.

It's possible my eyes don't focus in comparison to everyone else. I caught some pretty gnarly TBI while deployed. Getting blown up a few times have fucked up my hearing and vision so it's possible I just don't have the eyes for it.

Intel may finally release a decent GPU next year, that should give Nvidia a run for the money...

Youre telling your brain your eyes are focused at say 20ft when youre actually trying to focus at 3 inches +/-, what, mills? plus parallax. Its hell on eye muscles and nerves. I tried a SOTA unit once at some demo. Thats a hard no for me, dawg. Disorientation and balance were issues for me with inner ear damage Last edited by zombiewolf513; 08-14-2020 at 07:43 PM.. |

speaking of monitors, looking forwards to 4k hdmi 2.1 offerings. should theoretically be a good way to complement some of the nicer gpus going beyond 60fps on 4k resolution. love that there's going to be 43 inch models, that really hits the spot for me. this is a great year for gaming hardware.

In the last few generations prices for top tier cards have been pretty insane. Here's some historical data for comparison. Hopefully with more competition next year prices will become more reasonable (or not, since COVID has been a big boost for gaming).

Problem is there really is no competition for upper end cards for a long time. Nvidia was pretty much competing with itself with higher end turing vs the old ass 1080ti. My 1080ti is holding up pretty decent with newer titles & 3440p monitor.
expect further price hikes if speculators are correct. $1400 for the 3090 is pretty outrageous. 2080ti started as $1200. People are going to buy it anyways. I'd be lying if I weren't tempted myself to get a higher end aib 3090. https://wccftech.com/nvidia-rtx-3000...-3060-for-399/ I do expect the 3080 to be the sweet spot for most enthusiasts. Maybe more so if we get a 3080 super in '21 or '22. |

ampere reveal today.
$500 3070 and $700 3080 seem really impressive. harder to imagine splurging $1,500 on a 3090 but gotta admit its tempting. also aib cards seem to be coming along https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-...tch-live-here/ https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-...model-roundup/ |

No evidence but I think a 3080ti maybe coming later. Look at how big of a gap between the 3080 and the 3090 700 to 1500, literally double the price. I could see a 3080ti slotting in at 1k.

3080ti or 3080 super is probably more likely than not. without comparos showing positive results for the 3090, I am not sure the 3090 makes a lot of sense as a card for gaming. maybe 3090 is meant to be the new titan. without more info, i’m more set on a good 3080 aib card, maybe the evga ftw 3080.
also apparently 3070ti might be a possibility https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-g...b-gddr6-memory lots of great hardware this year! also tempted by the samsung 980 pro that hopefully gets released later this year. https://www.techspot.com/news/86565-...ie-40-ssd.html |
