s14 S14 SR20DET Stock Recirculation Valve Boost Limit?

Searched... if the answer is out there, I might have used the wrong terms...

Anyways... anyone know what the max boost that the OEM SR20DET recirc valve is good for before it starts leaking?

The OEM S14 blowoff valve has a tiny hole in it that bleeds off boost. I found a few old threads, maybe on soxc, where they described how to plug it up. Sounded like anything over the stock 11-12lbs would cause boost to be bleed off. My boost went up a tad just by replacing it with a recirculated HKS.

Here's a few posts I found about the mod to block that hole.

Ahh thanks for those...
Hmm... I just wonder if it will still hold 17psi after the mod. One guy from the first link said it should be able to hold 16, but if anyone has any first hand experience and/or can verify, that would be awesome. Otherwise... maybe time to do some experimenting

Experiment and report back! I have a feeling that when people get to that level of boost, they're replacing a lot of other things at the same time.

hmmm yeaaa I dunno... I've got an upgraded turbo and intercooler with piping, electronic boost controller, standalone computer, blah blah blah ... but it's all utilizing the stock recirculating setup LOL

But I'll see about doing some testing this weekend. Would just suck to go through the trouble of blocking that little bypass port and the bov still not be able to hold 17 pounds. fuuahhh
