Zenki engine block needs rebuilding

Hi zilvia members...
As u can tell from the title, I took my car to the shop and they re charging me 3300 dlls to rebuild my engine cus of a knocking that it's making. My question is, is this price common to rebuild a engine block.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback n or references to machine shops in southern Cali.

i had one of our members ask for a quote and i told him $2100. he has a 95 240 with a stock ka24de. that is remove the engine, rebuild it with new piston rings, engine bearings, water pump, thermostat, all gaskets and seals, valve job on the head, hone and deck the block, new timing components, new spark plugs, all the fluids, and install the engine back in the car. basically, drop off the car and a couple weeks later, pick it up.

If you're not ready to spend that kinda money, I would suggest, find someone with a decent KA (from a swap). Then slowly gather the money/parts to rebuild your original motor.

It also depends on location. In Southern California, there's a lot of competition for the said engine. However, if you're in Maywood Indiana, you're pretty much SOL and need to find a reputable shop who knows your SR20 engine.

if your willing to ship your engine to Cali, it will be around $1,600. you said it was knocking, so you probably need to buy a connecting rod and or a crankshaft. i don`t know how much those will cost. and you will have to pay for shipping. personally though, i would find some body local so if you have any issues, you can just drive to him or her.
