Wish i had a longer stretch of road and more boost and a Tach that worked so i could Rev it all the way.

Vids still dont capture the sound of this beast

Awesome build and thanks for taking the time to pin point just about everything. I found the info on the dipstick very usefull as mine just started to split like yours. Its actually cheaper to find a sentra dipstick and do the same mod than buying a r33 rb25det one.
Again thanks and great build.

Thanks.

No problem man, If you didnt wanna go the route of making one, If you contact Russell @ Nissanparts.cc he can get you a dipstick

I ended up ordering one just in case since I couldnt get some one else to measure one for me so i could check mine.
But my Measurements came out dead on compared to the OEM one

Alright RB guys, Just curious if this is a normal sound or not.
I never noticed it before cuz the FAL are so damn loud and I just recently got a new CTS so the DIF controller works properly now.

Does anyone else RB Timing belt sound like this or is my Timing belt too tight?
All timing components are Brand new(OEM Nissan) with a Greddy TB

I want real answers not, "I think its ok"

This is not my engine but sounds similar, Not as loud as this though its faint but noticeable when im standing over the engine and reving.

YouTube - RB25

Ill probably upload mine tomorrow, too late to be reving the RB lol

Yours almost sounds like a power steering pump, but looks like you didnt even have a belt on it.

I wanna say its normal and it just the sound of the belt whizzing over the cam gears (my sound)

Im just paranoid and like to have second opinions

the sound your hearing is normal... to an extent. if it howls really loud and dosent stop then your timing belt is on way too tight.

however if you hear it intermittently like on the video ( i only heard it a few times ) its ok. the belt is made of kevlar and those types of belts will make a howling noise just because they dont stretch like oem belts do.

i tightened my tensioner maybe a little less than a 1/4 turn and my belt only howls when the motor gets really hot.

So today I was planning to up the boost on the RB, I hooked up some Sunpro gauge I borrowed from a co-worker.

With just a Vac line running to the W/G the RB pushes 5-6psi

But when i was dialing in the Greddy MBC the Vac line that I ran caused the Throttle pully to hang up and cause the RPM's to spike and bounce off the Rev Limiter for a good 4 seconds until I shut her down.

So pulled over fixed the line, luckily started up fine with no rod knock.

But one thing weirded me out, my Engine use to idle at 1100RPM's even when I adjusted the IACV. Now she idles at 900RPM's and I can adjust the IACV better.....wtf

So i wonder what happened to allow my RPM's to lower, I hate that shit when when somthing big happens and issues you had before are magically fixed...

Haha, you had an inadvertent "Italian tune-up!" As long as it's running fine, no need to worry IMHO.

I guess a little update for those who care

RB's been running great for since the MAFS issue.

Took a 800 mile Round trip to AL got around 25-28mpg cruising around 60-70mph
I had a few weird instance of having a dead pedal for a split second almost like a bad TPS or no fuel (fuel tank was low) But other than that its been great.

I tried upping the boost again with a real boost gauge (Blitz) around .8 Bar it misfires Stock WG is garbage as well though too , I tried wrapping my Coil packs in E-Tape and it helped a little bit, I wanna get some split fire coil packs to alleviate any questions on them.

Probably check my Plug gaps as well again

I noticed that your wiring harness only has one relay thing (blue one close to the ecu) mine has three...May I ask what is the function of those anyways?

One is for the ECCS I believe,(dont have my schematics with me right now) and the other one im not sure of, Depending on Chassis and series RB the Relays vary between 2-3 but once the conversion is complete only one is needed.

Just read through the thread and love it! Thank you for an in-depth RB guide. I definitely hope to be able to do this one day.

Btw, if you don't mind me asking, is this SSG Gilbert's first name Benjamin? It's a shot in the dark... had a DS Gilbert once & was wondering.

Sounds like a miss fire or Vacuum leak, check for them

I feel Dumb

So I was having an issue with misfire on the RB at anything above .5bar of boost, and ive suspected the spark plugs might have been gapped too small.

I know the Coils are weak and I already wrpped them in E-Tape as a quick fix until I can order some splitfires for her

So I finally stopped being lazy today but mainly due to my embarrassing loss of a N/A Z32 last night, so I went to work.

I checked the plugs and it turns out I never properly gapped the plugs
I remember now when i got the plugs I didnt have a gapper so I just put them in there to keep debris from falling in the cylinders.

The plugs were gapped at .040mm-.043mm, So closed them down to .031mm turned up the boost a little and BAM no more missfire!

Giant noticeable power gain, she rolls out now like a RB should!

You can convert over to LS2 coil on plug setup way cheaper than split fires. It's just not a pretty.
