s15 transmission vss mod

i cant find a write up on how to make a s13/s14 vss work on a s15 trans.

i have vss from the s13 and s14, and my s15 trans has a plug, but what do i need to install for the sensor goes in?

IIRC you need the plastic gear (that drives the speedo sensor) that the S13/S14 have on the trans output shaft. There may be differences in the two though, s13 vs s14. You may want to check this out if you haven't already http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=362303

You would have to take apart the transmission to add the plastic drive gear.

Better option is to use the intended differential and the converter box...

Or just run a converter box off something like an ABS sensor or even a hall effect sensor off the back of your studs.

On the other hand, using the intended differential will also make your first gear usable, and sixth will actually drop your RPM below the 5-speed ratio.

i was unaware the s15 diff had a different final drive.

i did see that other thread about the transmissions and thats where i got the idea... but i cant find any info form anyone who has actually done it.

ultimately i was hoping not to have to take the trans apart, if i do i may just say fuck it.

the car does not have abs. i was hoping for a simple pnp option.

Just plug the s14 vss into s15 tranny, see if you can get your speedo working.....if not, you need to buy a dakota box and get the signal from other sensor instead.....I use the signal from rear differential sensor (it is actually the abs sensor located in the pumpkin)........and dakota signal conversion box......there are many write ups on the internet which i use that to guide myself too.......that is all you need man........
