Rack to Steering shaft connection

The steering wheel spins freely, only ocassionally engaging the wheels and turning them

It appears as thought the steering shaft is still turned by the wheel, so I think that it is a problem with where the steering shaft connects to the rack, I can see the shaft spinning all the way up to the rack also

This is a problem with the pinion gear i guess?
Does anyone know the part number for this?

I also considered that the serrations on the end of the steering shaft may have failed because I think its aluminum?
Im not sure how to test most of my theories though haha

I plan on removing my rack, replacing the bushings, rebuilding the rack with one of those $60 kits they have online, and getting a metal steering bushing(the circle with 4 holes in it to replace the rubber one) but I dont want to do this if im going to need to find a new steering rack anyways

There are some adjustment you can make to the rack, but first verify that all connections are correct and the shaft is in fact connected to the rack via the lower joint, no loose connection or stripped splines.

Those rack retainer and gear housing adjustments might not be for you so get an fsm and see if it fit your needs.

Whats the best way to check the connection of the rack with the steering shaft

I've already inspected the shaft and the lower joint appears to be working, it is spinning the whole shaft into the rack

I think i will take the rack down and start taking it apart and then ill post up what I find
