help me with s13, sr20det

hey guys, i tried to avoid making a new thread as much as possible but couldnt get much help from google or zilvia so I just need some help!

I have a 1990 s13 that had a sohc engine in it and got it swapped with a blacktop sr20det. everything works fine but the tachometer on the cluster doesn't move. i was told it needed a dohc cluster so i bought one and plugged it in today and still that tachometer wasn't working. i checked and the wire is giving off a signal to tachometer its just the needle for revs won't move at all.

do i need some sort of harness that i needed to change too? or do you just change the cluster and plug into the sohc harness that was already there?

Im thinking maybe the tach on the dohc cluster i got is bad and the guy lied about saying it worked. I might just buy another dohc cluster and see if anything happens.
