Talking HKS Twin Power Ignition System Install Help

Hey guys,

A buddy of mine just gave me an Twin Power High Performance Ignition System from HKS; however, I'm not really sure how to install it. All it came with was the actual system and a wiring harness with three plugs and a grounding cable. If anyone has a picture of the set up on an sr20det, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

TJ

if you are not running more than 2 bar boost, you dont need one. Dont try to fix whats not broken.

Also, try to understand how and what a mod does before actually doing it.

ground to chassis ground, one connector goto coil pack harness, second to where coil pack harness connects to the main harness. And I assume the third to the hks unit.

More than 2 bar, really? I doubt 90% of zilvia is running more than 29psi.

That was the point really. It is completely useless.

Why ? simple. This thing is basically an amplifier. It does the same job as ... your current amplifier. Bus as it is different, it will mess with your timing.

Now, what does it do ? Like all "miracle spark plug products", it will just make your coils get more energy, by lenghtening the dwell time or applying higher voltage (which may be difficult).

But your coil dont need more energy !

Your timing and dwell is controlled by your ECU. Adding an "amplifier" will just lengthen dwell and add a little lag, which will not give you any benefit. The added energy will however harm your coils (because they have to dissipate it) and retarding timing - which is not good either.

You need more energy to your coils when boost is high enough to kill your spark. And then, just shortening spark plug gap corrects this.

Anyway you dont need longer dwell. And you dont need to retard the timing (thats the side effect of adding something between your ECU and the coils), quite the opposite. If you really do, that means you have someone custom mapping the car, and he should be smart enough to add some dwell. Or use fresh coils. Fresh coils will give MUCH better results BTW than this.

Having "power" and "high performance" in its name means it mostly is crap. Basic internet rule.
