Hey i was thinking that since we need a usdm Water Pump for this swap could we go down to the junkyard and grab a 2jz water pump from a lexus, it may be a ge but it should still fit the block right?

honestly, at the price of a Waterpump $60 from a part store, or $155 from Toyota. There is no reason to take off a used 100K + Mile waterpump. If you don't have the money to buy a new one you shouldn't do the swap.

i was just looking at the price on ebay or other places and everyone wanted 155 dollars, in no way did i say i dont have the money. but if everyone is complaining about a 10k investment in this swap i dont see why we arn't trying to find more affordable way of doing it rather than saying, oh well, it is what it is.

The water pump for a 2jge and a 2jzgte are different.....The GTE is designed to accommodate the GTE water neck. GE does not and exits out horizontally in comparison the the vertical design of he GTE .

No problem sir...here to help. Now if you were going to replace the oil pump then they are both compatible but I have read that the GTE oil pump has a greater flow capacity....so I opted for the GTE oil pump.

Big Mike86 I see everything is coming along....good progress.

Dual pass

Just a thougt anyone think the dual pass radiator that koyo offers for the sr is better than a ka radiator that koyo offers?

As far as the design, fit, application to a 2jz swap? If your asking about the design then typically, a dual pass radiator is more effective at heat transfer then a single pass. If your talking about application then it seems that it would be most convenient as far plumbing since the rad entrance tube (not technical terminology) is on the passenger side of the rad. If you were to fab up the 2jzgte water neck so that it does not cross over the front of the engine such as Ben Freed has...that would be ideal in my opinion.

Good point

My thing is a lot of people run in to cooling issues.im probably going 1jz cause I don't wanna spend 1000 for a r154 (that's the price quotes I'm getting)and its hard to find used ones.being that the necks in and out are on the same side(ka) is that why you think so many people have cooling issues?
Every car I ever looked under the hood Of a Factory spec car I have always seen radiator inlet and outlets are always opposite side never above each other.do you do you get were I'm getting with this? So do you think that ka radiators are really not allowing true flow thru the radiator? I'm in process of a swap I just wanna do it right the first time.thanks for the input also.

I think the cooling issue people have is they are cheap. I was fighting cooling issues for the first few years. It's all on the setup and parts you use.

Koyo KA Radiator
Flex-a-lite 410/420 Series Electric fans with shroud
TRD 160 Thermostat
Toyota Coolant
Redline Water Wetter
Oil cooler
Car has ZERO issues now with running cool, even running and doing multiple dyno runs in a 100+ Degreet shop. I think the issue lies with people running cheap dual 10" or 12" fans without a shroud. Running whatever coolant is on sale this week at the local part shop, a part store thermostat and a second hand radiator. I had a CXRacing radiator,OEM Thermostat,no oil cooler,Toyota coolant and water wetter with 2 12" fans and had issues, i decided to redo it, So glad i did it i don't know why i even tried "cheap" crap.

Tech2 Motorsports started off these swaps using a modified SR20DET KOYO radiator and moved the water neck over so they could use off the shelf MKIV Toyota Supra radiator hoses. So yes it will work.

No I think the cooling issue is inadequate air movement + lack of quality parts as noted by Flick. The list of parts has been proven to work even for folks down in Florida. The radiator inlet/outlet location would not create enough of a difference to create significant temp differences. The location of the inlet/outlet would be an aesthetic choice and ease of access to he front of the motor space thing.

2js run hot...bottom line. So buy quality parts, create ducts to channel air movement across cooling parts, and use quality fluids and you should be good. But Dual Pass rads are still more efficient

Since we are on the topic of S15 Diff swaps, Does anyone on here have a S15 Diff with the S15 gear/pinion to give the car a 3.69 Gear ratio? Seems most people leave the S13/S14 4.08 in the pumpkin.

I have about 5-5500 in the entire swap. I did all the wiring, install, etc.. so that definitely saved me some money.
