i need some new boots for walking around campus this winter, but i'm not sure what direction i want to go. something old school looking, modern, or stylish hiking boots..
kind of leaning towards these though. I'm open to suggestions, but i do lots and lots of walking (5,200 acre campus), and it's cold as shit (and will be snowy). my standard shit is jeans, button down, blk peacoat and boots.

i'm not spending $200+ on redwing boots, and i've not seen a pair of timberlands i like. i'd rock the shit out of some Danner boots, but they're also too damn expensive.
these are exactly the sort i was initially looking for, but they're > $600. lol. minus the tie, this is typically how i am dressed. i just need something decent looking with a pair of jeans, that i can put some miles on.

redwing doesn't really have anything that catches my eye. i lived in MN for 13 years, so i am well aware of the company and what they produce. i don't generally have a problem dropping cash on nice shoes, but i have a handful already, and i'm a jobless college "kid" at the current time.

I wash my apcs every 2 weeks. Butttt I really don't wear them anymore, which leads me to a q to all you denim experts. Who makes a quality pair of jeans that fits like a 511? Lol I kinda don't fit in my old pair

its all about the crisper when it comes to keeping your selvedge or raw denim clean.
I have worn alot of selvedge evisu, wesc, kicking mule, apc, naked and famous, import japanese no name, ubranded, lvc.. etc I dont ever wash my denim and have some pairs I have owned for years. box of baking soda in the crisper takes away any oder and a pair of jeans tossed in and for a couple days keeps them nice and fresh. A friend told me there is a method to wearing in selvedge denim that involves swimming in the salt ocean water in your jeans and than rolling in the sand and rubbing it into the jeans in all the "wear" areas thus creating a unique pattern. i personally couldnt see myelf wearing my jeans in the ocean.. |

Most recent purchases as of 1am. Only one of them was a Black Friday deal, but altogether I was able to get a discount thanks to my older sister. ahaha.

For me, not washing jeans isnt a fashion/style thing.
I just dont wash denim. Work on cars, party, skateboard, crash on couches or outside. Just dont wash it, lol. |

word.
not washing "unwashed" denim only somewhat has to do with style. I personally buy unwashed heavy weave for a few reasons, one being so that as I wear them they shape to me and always sit comortably and fit much better the more i wear them rather than falling apart and becomeing loose the longer there worn. You buy a set of selvedge and after a year they fit amazingly, the fade is realistic and are just starting to loose a bit of stiffness and start to wear. any other denim i wear falls apart after about 6 months and has no color while selvedge still shines and looks fresh. |
