Well had to work today so i made the best of it. Stage 1 is done.

I hate that S14's dont have a plug for the cluster harness, So I yanked a S13 one and wired it in the S14 so I can easily switch between the R33 cluster and S14 cluster.

Cut and wired up each wire one by one to make sure nothing got mixed up since there are a few same colored wires.

brought it home for a few touch ups and Bam Works like a charm

Fuck what a day, Dont think I'll be doing cluster swaps anytime soon :/
Its a little trickier than it looks especially when theres not much info on this.
plus sucks not having a good Soldering Iorn

I had to trace all the tracks on both clusters just to make sure i was wiring it up correctly.

Almost

Done

I can now swap between the R33 cluster and S14 cluster.

Now i just need to wire up the Oil Pressure and Stock Boost meter

I was gonna try and do a write up but It got a little confusing in the middle
when I was trying to figure out which tracks were positive or negitive, seeing that a few lights are ground triggered.

in the beggining I used this guide for basic location, but then just went for tracing the tracks since there were a few wires not mentioned on here

Installed
Fits pretty damn good, just had to mod the top mounting bracket.
Seems the Fuel Gauge is accurate as well as Temps with the OE S14 Sensors

I can move it over slightly so there are no gaps

All thats left is to wire up the boost sensor and Oil pressure

Wow, this is an awesome thread. This is the kind of swap I want to do.
I am new to this site and new to the thread so excuse me.
When you did the swap did you have issues with the clearence or issues with the shifter during the install?

No issues with the Shifter, When using a SYKO Kit and an R33 Crossmember the shifter sit pretty much in the OEM location.

Did you have any difficulty with the sway bar when installing the rb. I bought an s13 with an RB25 in it and have been having many overheating problems. I took out the engine and the sump has been cut they they welded the bit they cut on the side of it as it didn't clear the sway bar.

I used the SYKO Mount kit with mine, If you get that kit, they give you spacers and you flip the Sway bar to correct that issue.

As far as cooling get a Nismo thermo, N1 Water Pump, Big radiator, and some FAL fans that pull alot of CFM (Its either 2.5K or 25K CFM canot remember)

Great job on the cluster swap. I am new to the seen and a new s14 owner. I am trying to learn as much as I can.

Why an R33 cluster? Are there others that work? Also, is there a guide on the wiring?

Thanks,

The R33 cluster fits good and the Tach is calibrated for the RB, as well as a stock Oil pressure gauge.

You can rewire any cluster into a car, just fitment is an issue

Finished wiring up the RB cluster. Now have Oil Pressure and Boost Gauge

Yeah almost kinda pointless, but I like Full Functionality

Stock R33 Boost Sensor

If anyone needs to know the Wire pinouts are
Green/Blue Stripe = Switched 12V
White/Green Stripe = Signal
Red/ Black Stripe = Ground

Bam

Sweet then I might just be able to get away with a 3 row radiator when I do my swap. That'd probably leave just under a half inch between the motor and radiator though

Been side tracked so much with my other projects and having issue on finding a PFC for the RB.

I have a turbo already just need ECU and Inj. But all my plans have changed now since I just received orders to go to Misawa Japan for a few years haha

How are you liking the hyper gear turbo? My car has been running weird and now after I pulled my turbo I'm thinking it could be that. There is about 1/8-1/4 inch shaft play. Is that bad? When my car is under 70 c it runs like shit, sometimes of I step on the gas it will just die out. If it shuts off it won't want to start. If I let it warm up to 70 c it runs good and pulls strong. I'm lost haha. So I have been thinking of ordering a hyper gear turbo.

I took off the HG turbo I while ago cuz the Stock ECU doesnt like it.
Felt good when I had it on though. Quick and responsive.

That much shaft play on a BB turbo is def not good.

Id look into boost leaks and check ECU for codes

Alright. Yeah I don't plan on putting that turbo back on. I'll be picking up a hg when I sell my truck. I haven't tried checking codes. Never had to.
