Do you wish your 240 had a cup holder? Maybe I'll make some.
Update: As of 2/20/2016 I have actually made the cup holders that I wanted to finish so long ago. Here's a pic and a link to my business site www.UniqueAutoCreations.com Now we can all enjoy an nice cup holder. Thanks for being patient!
Original post: Not having a cup holder in my car is annoying and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So I was playing with the idea of making a cup holder for the S13. It would be made out of vacuum formed plastic and fit inside the armrest storage pocket of the center console. There would be room for two drinks. As far as I can tell the only options out there are to get one of those pop-out ones that fits under the radio (shifting?), use your ashtray (ghetto but works), or whole saw a couple holes in your center console lid (I have to buy another tool). The latter looks the best but I think a drop in piece that doesn't require modification would be best. I'm playing with the idea of making it out of either black, clear, or smoked clear plastic. What do you prefer? The clear plastic one could be painted on the back side for infinite color options while keeping the topside durable so you wouldn't mess up your paint job by actually using it. Anyway. What do you think. If I made some would anyone else be interested in buying one? Thanks for your input.

I'm down for a replacement there. Although, as an aside, that gives me something else to think of for my build. Custom drink holder?

With the pop-out ones u have to switch the radio and cup holder (radio buttom, cup holder on top) so it it wont inerfere with shifting. Plus u get to have 2 sodas with pop-out
(1 only with ash tray). With the arm rest itll have to be open and u gonna give up that space. Stick with the pop-out, clean OEM look, cheap ($5 bucks at junk yard) and after ur done with drink just push it back in. I think i used a maxima one, dont remember |

So a lot of you would prefer to have just one cup holder in place of the ash tray instead of two under the armrest? What about if you're a smoker or if you had a buddy riding with you who had a drink too? Isn't two better than one?

the passenger can hold theirs, and for smoking, the windows roll down. if i can hold a drink between my legs while driving, my passenger should be able to do it while just sitting there no problem

I agree about not smoking in the car or at all for that matter but I'm just trying to think of all the angles. There are enough smokers out there for Nissan to have designed an ash tray in the first place for them instead of putting a cup holder there.
I'm also starting to get the feeling that most of you are content with having nothing to put your drinks in. That's fine. But as for me, I'm actually trying to build a nice 240 so I'll be having a place for my drink or no drink at all. I'll still post up some pics once I get mine made and we'll see what happens then.
