Salvage/rebuilt title?
Anyone have any experience buying a car on a rebuilt title? What were the circumstances, and what issues did you experience as a result?
OR, was it a good or a bad time for you

My car has a salvage title. As a result I can only get the car insured such that if I hit someone my insurance will only pay for the other person's car, not mine at all.

Start with a nice car from the get go, not a pile. I have seen lots of projects start and end over the last few years. The Sweet modified cars always start as sweet stock cars. Never really see POS stock cars into Sweet modified cars.

Not a POS at all. Fully rebuilt by a shop that specializes in the chassis. Must have passed safety inspection, as it is on an official rebuilt title and has been renewed annually for four years by the current owner.
Other thoughts? The insurance is a valid concern.

Fair enough.
FWIW, the vehicle report shows no frame damage, no flood/fire/other disaster damage. It's a 350Z, and the current owner had the alignment/tire-feathering issue dealt with at a dealer in 2005; he asked them to check underneath and they found no evidence of frame damage anywhere. I see what you're saying though. This bears some serious consideration.
