Stack MFDL Now Supports AEM Series 2/EMS-4 CAN Data

We are pleased to announce that STACK Multi-Function Displays and Recorders (ST8916 and ST8956) equipped with the CAN Gateway Option (ST8996) now support AEM EMS-4 and Series 2 ECU CAN data. This helps eliminate redundant senders and also makes the system more affordable for the every day user. There is always the option to install additional, more accurate senders later to monitor additional parameters.

Note: AEM Series 1 ECUs (silver case) do not support CAN comms and are equipped only with a serial connection. Our systems do not support those products at this time.

Installation notes (AEM CAN Connection in 7 easy steps!):

1.) Connect STACK CAN harness (included with ST8996) to A5 and A6 on STACK sensor harness. Ensure that the CAN terminator stub is in place.

2.) Connect White lead to CAN Hi and Green lead to CAN Lo on ECU. (Note: On the ECU we tested, these connections were not pinned in the connector. AEM documents the PIN out locations within their product manuals. These are also available online from their website. Locate and PIN for connections as necessary using appropriate hardware and tools.)

3.) Locate and Open the saved AEM master files (Available by request) with your DataPro CAN Gateway Template editor and perform the SAVE AS function to place them within the appropriate data folder to allow Designer to easily access them for future reference.

4.) Open Designer, load and/or open the system configuration for the hardware/vehicle in question. Select CAN Enable Gateway from the Multi-Function Input tab and apply to inputs A5-A6. Click the ECU Gateway Icon on the window left nav bar to access the CAN protocol details. From the ECU Protocol Drop Down menu on the right, select the appropriate AEM ECU
(EMS-4 or Series 2). Set Speed to 500kbps. Check all CAN message boxes that you wish to display and/or record.

5.) Build system Display, Alarms, and Recorder information as normal. Save file when complete and upload to the STACK hardware on vehicle. NOTE: Be sure that the number of CAN channels recorded does not exceed your enabled recording channels for the system or you will receive an upload error.

6.) Connect PC to ECU using AEM software. Enable AEMnet Telemetry feature.

7.) Power up vehicle and check for operation. That's it!

As always, you are the team using these products in the paddock on a regular basis and we look forward to your feedback. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Simple two pin connection at the ECU (blue connector on this vehicle, bottom two pins) plus switched 12v power and ground.

The Stack MFDL will display all of the CAN info from the AEM Series 2

Now when will we be able to do this with the street dash systems?

p.s. do all new stack clusters have white background? I thought it was blue?

Do you sell stack products also?
